Yep they won a weak Europa league, something we have never won and have no right to downplay any European trophy with our history. Had our chances in that comp and went out to a poor side like Olympiacos.

Damn right, but the teams in that comp were hideous, lets be honest. The fact PL teams 16th & 17th at the time reached the final is abysmal. If we were in that comp last year and never won it, the emirates should have been burned to the ground.

Never said let’s aim for 7th to be in that comp. You better believe we should win if we did though. We can’t sit on our high horse in Europe when we have no pedigree and history in Europe.

You can only downplay Sp**s winning the Europa, if we were winning (not competing) either the Champions League or Premier League...or at least winning the FA/League Cup, as then you could say at least we were winning something and were too good to even be in the Europa now anyway.

I am not downplaying Sp**s winning it, I am downplaying the whole competition in its current form. There is barely a decent side in it. It is ridiculous the winner gets a CL place now.

I agree it's sour grapes, but conversely, if we were to win this or the league cup, you can guarantee half the forum would be downplaying it as a weak trophy, not good enough until we win a 'proper' trophy.

It would equal complete and utter failure (and a manager change) if we were even able to compete for these second rate trophies.

Right now, if someone offered you 6th in PL, but we were guaranteed to win the Europa League in 2027/28 would you take it? Cos I definitely wouldn’t.
