We spoke to Madueke, Rice, Calafiori, Gyokeres etc before even bidding. Its normal and not illegal

If Forest didn't know about it or give their permission then it is illegal.

But yeah, none of that gets enforced. It's just sour grapes.

It's the very definition of tapping up and not allowed. The fact that it happens and most clubs let it slide doesn't mean you're allowed to do it.

I thought tapping up is the thing of the past? Otherwise why would we agree contracts with so many players before even bidding? And we allow it to be widely reported

Pretty sure it's still written in the Premier League handbook that a player or their representative can't make contact with another club without permission.

You can when it’s a release clause. That’s the whole point of it, you bypass the club and go straight to the player. Player accepts and you trigger the clause.

No the point of a release clause is having a fee agreed upon between the player and the club that allows them to speak to other clubs and move elsewhere if it's triggered. As the buying club you still can't speak to the player before triggering the clause.

It's all immaterial anyway. Everyone does it.

You don’t need permission to speak to a player if you intend on triggering the release clause. There’s nothing the current club can do about it so there’s no need for any sort of club to club negotiations.

Forest owner just having a cry because they just sold their other main attacker without knowing about the clause in their captains contract. Trying to save face from the embarrassment.

A quick google search will tell you that you don’t need to seek permission from the club to speak to the player if you are triggering a release clause.

Scummy behaviour by Forest. That club has done so much dodgy **** in recent years and now they're taking legal actions because another club is activating the release clause for one of their players. Their owner is a disgrace.

Only need to google - do you need selling club permission to speak to player if you trigger release clause?

First line response is as follows:

“No, if a club triggers a player's release clause, they do not need permission from the selling club to speak with the player about personal terms”

Yeah if they trigger it. Clearly the problem here is Forest thinking Sp**s spoke to him before triggering it, which is what I said in the first place. ****ing hell.....

They triggered the release clause, doesn’t matter when they speak to MGW as they don’t need permission.
