Lyon will remain in Ligue 1 next season after winning their appeal over the relegation imposed upon them by the body which oversees the finances of French football teams, the club confirmed in a statement.

The decision means Lyon will maintain their top-flight status, which they have retained since the 1988-89 season.
“Olympique Lyonnais welcomes today’s decision by the DNCG to keep the Club in Ligue 1,” the club said in a statement on Wednesday. “OL thanks the appeals committee for recognizing the ambition of the club’s new management, determined to ensure serious management in the future.
Lyon finished the 2024-25 Ligue 1 campaign in sixth, making the Europa League alongside fifth-place Lille. Their qualification raised uncertainty over Palace’s participation in the European competition next season following their maiden FA Cup triumph, due to multi-club ownership rules — relating to Textor’s Eagle Football’s involvement in both clubs — and Lyon’s superior league placement giving them priority in participating.

Michele Kang, the owner of OL Lyonnes and investor in Eagle, has stepped in as Lyon president and John Textor has ben pushed aside. Unlike Textor who is gambling with people's money, Kang has real $$$, she is a billionaire. She may provide the club with more stability than this clown.

I know pretty much nothing about French football. I know of Paris Saint Germain, Marseille, Lyon etc.
I just learned that there is another Paris team, Paris FC. They have just got promotion from the league below Ligue 1. It is around 45 years ago, when they were last in Ligue 1.
I thought that Dundee United and Dundee football stadiums were close together. Paris Saint Germain and Paris FC grounds, are about 30 meters apart.
