For the start of the new season, Arsenal Mania has relaunched the news side of the site. All articles are written by genuine Arsenal fans with no hidden agenda. You can visit the site via the menu at the top of the forum pages or go direct to our homepage

Additionally, Arsenal Mania is now sending all its registered members a bi-weekly Briefing Bulletin containing a digest of news and views from both parts of the site. Some of you may have already received the first edition and those that haven't should do so before the big kick off against United. Lionel Messi: GOAT 🐐

I think the fitness thing for Messi is a tad bit overblown. Guy just knows how to move and he literally walks all over the pitch.

This man is out there like Solid Snake on a Tactical Espionage Mission, throwing diagonal balls for Di Maria from the halfway line and suddenly *boom* suprise motherfuckers it's me at the edge of the box ready to finesse the ball into the corner with a well placed shot.

And I have a feeling he'll be much more like a Bergkamp (already is, imo) insofar as knowing he'll be a creator or a super sub as his career comes to a close.

:bullseye:

It was exactly the same, as there was a moment when I think it was Lautaro, Alvarez or someone else he released from deep, and as he reached the box trying to wait for other to come in, when he cut it back there was Messi at the box and shame as the ball was high and he couldn't control it well enough to shoot.

Di Maria had a cut back for him and Upamecano (I think) cut it before the ball got to him and the most physical thing he did was sprint a little to get into that position.

Too much game intelligence.

Ronaldo had that in spades as well, but as he was always a bit closer to the box, we didn't get to see many long passes, etc.

It’s undeniable now really isn’t it? Achievements wise the only other player that you can really make an argument for is Pele.

Honestly think if Mbappe continues his trajectory he could potentially challenge Messi/Pele/Maradona in terms of greatness. I don’t think he’s as good a player as Messi, but he is potentially the most “inevitable” player I’ve ever seen.

His performance yesterday was the greatest I’ve ever seen, when you take into account the magnitude of the game, how bad his team were ect.

That game was peak football lads, there is no topping that.

For eg the reason Piers Morgan is simping like a lil b*tch for Ronaldo rn isn’t cos he sincerely believes that Ronaldo is a better footballer, it’s cos Ronaldo symbolises things that Morgan aligns himself with, strength, power, fame, being an alpha male. If Trump watched football he’d also be a Ronaldo fan, no doubt about that.
Does that mean a man like Trilly is an introverted beta male just like Messi?

Discuss.

Strange that you can actually have watched mbappe yesterday, claiming he was good!?

Show me one good sequence before he scored the pen in 80 minute? Before the Argentina players tired down.

If you had said di Maria was the greatest performance you had ever seen, I would believe that you understood football

Also doing so little, losing possession the few times he has it — he wouldn’t survive in a better league unless he changes antics

Eh? You I think I don’t understand football because I think a guy scoring a hatrick in a World Cup final was a good performance 😂

I’ve seen a lot in my 3 years on AM but this takes this biscuit lmao

Before the 80the minute, before Argentina got tired

He had 26 touches
pass percentage of 67%
Missed 3/3 crosses
1/3 dribbles

That’s horrible, especially with his talent

I dont think Saka or martinelli has ever had those numbers

Messi would never

Really is unfortunate for your narrative that football is a 90 minute sport innit

I am pretty sure someone else mentioned this on A-M. It would be nice if he could join Arsenal on a cheeky winter transfer and win us the title. Win-win for both. Not sure how he will take to Mikel's dressing room speeches though

Could you imagine him joining Arsenal and getting ousted by Arteta for his defensive contributions lacking

I honestly can, could also imagine absolute b*ms like @UpTheGunnerz saying "Messi dusted not fit to play for the Assna una" etc.

Honestly God forbid, let the man just retire on a high or go to a team/league that appreciates him.

Man would get called out for not playing like Ødegaard smh

I might not care about the guy but yeah I wouldn't wish Artetaball on my worst enemy
