Wenger didn't even get his proper due as a great manager until our second title when he rebuilt pretty much the whole squad, as many felt he just benefitted from the set up Graham built.

And even Big Wengz did more in 1998, as he rebuilt our entire midfield pretty much by signing Petit/Vieira/Overmars and developing Parlour from a squad player into a starting level player.

Time to Slot to actually prove himself this season!

Slot is perhaps unlucky if we win it this year tbh, as much as it'll be wonderful if we win the PL Slot's basically coming up against a team that has been building momentum for several years, and would have won it last year if not for crazy injuries.

The only things in his favour are a geriatric VVD/Salah + PGMOL. Even their huge summer transfer window doesn't look to have improved the frontline at all bar Ekitike who has been good tbf.

VVD and Salah on massive deals till 2027? That’s a huge chunk of the wage bill locked up in aging players. Then you spend €130m on Isak right after dropping €100m on Ekitike… what’s the plan there? Isak’s good, but he’s not some generational talent you have to get at all costs.

Frimpong for €40m is another weird one — guy only really fits in a back three. And then you’ve got €270m worth of new signings sitting on the bench in a big game against Chelsea. Absolute madness.

The squad’s all over the place — unbalanced, too many holes, and it needs major upgrades everywhere except CF and DM. This isn’t something you fix in a few weeks. They’ll need a couple of seasons minimum to get it right.

Honestly, Slot’s probably getting sacked before the rebuild’s even halfway done.

You can't totally write them off but you historically need to have both an attack and a defense that perform at a top 3 level. If you look at like the last dozen teams to win the league they're all either 1 or 2 in attack and no worse than 3 in defense. You can't win every game 4-3.

The league very much feels like it's going to come down to which unit performs better between our attack and Liverpool's defense and in terms of personnel involved, there are a lot more pieces to work with in our attacking unit than Liverpool's defensive unit.

You can actually see where our attack can grow and improve as it gels. I don't see that with Liverpool's defense because the problems are not about cohesiveness so much as raw ability to defend(or lack thereof) and a total lack of depth. They're in a position where if VVD gets injured for any period of time, you're looking at a worse scenario than when we lost Saliba in 22/23.

We might actually have 2 of top3 back4 in the league.

Its often considered a small anti football purist way of scoring goals I assume from the repeated message from Slot.

Stats are always skewed and driven by narrative. Just had a quick read that we scored 13 percent of our goals from set pieces last season in the league. Its laughable to have these sorts of discussions 7 games into a season.

Regardless I hope we win every game this season one nil with a goal from a corner ( first minute of every game). I would LOVEEE the melt down.

Yeah, I don't love watching it but you kind of feel good about it when you hear all the stupid discrediting that happens after we do it. It's a part of the game, it counts the same amount as a brilliant tiki taka team goal, if you think it's a 'cheap' way to get goals, then go ahead and replicate it.
