According to some Bayern insider (he's been spot on everything), Wirtz chose Liverpool bc:
-His convo with Kompany did go well
-Bayern, constantly leaking info to the media
-Bayern's facilities can't match LFC
-The Liverpool project was more appealing to him

He rejected City long ago (his family was worried that Pep's style of play would harm his development). The statement from City was nothing but to save face.

Bloody autocorrect!

Check the line-up of Leverkusen, they play 3-4-3 and Wirtz plays as left attacker.

Why would they sub Szoboszlai who is their second best attacker this year?
Leverkusen width comes from their wing backs. The two behind the striker operate similar to how United 2 operate behind the striker

They have rotated quite a bit of their midfield trio under Slot anyway
So you are telling me they are selling Diaz who is outright LW, buy Wirtz to replace him. Play Gakpo on the left and Wirtz behind the attacking 3 and rotate with MacAlister and Szobozlai?

Hehe yeah it is like us selling Martinelli, getting Wirtz to rotate him with Rice ...

Or to rotate with Ødegaard who’s been drastically under performing and will need to be replaced if he doesn’t improve.

Okay let us spend €150m to buy a player to rotate with Ødegaard ... If we sold Ode for €100m and replaced him with Wirtz, I'm fine but to have a player of €150m to rotate with Rice and Ode while playing Trossard and Martinelli on the left wing is just extremely stupid.

Teams with ambition make it happen. I wouldn’t say Liverpool have an immediate need for him. But they made it happen and will make it work.

Im not saying we 100% should have gone for Wirtz anyway, i was quoting the message considering the amount of numbers Liverpool and Arsenal have across AM and LW (the areas Wirtz would play) is very comparable.

When you look at their team, they don’t NEED him either, but they’ve made it work.

Sorry but this is very stupid. Teams with unlimited resources make it happen. We need 5 players (CF, LW, DM, DM2 and GK) and you want a luxury signing because that shows ambition?

You need to work on your communication skills firstly. Chill out.

Secondly you’ve latched onto a general statement I’ve made and ignored the actual point I’m making in my post.

I just said I’m not saying we should have signed Wirtz no matter what. And I explained the reasoning behind my post. I was saying there is as much space for him in midfield and attack at Liverpool than there is at Arsenal. I didn’t even think they wanted an AM neither did my Liverpool friend a few weeks ago.

Rice - Macallister
Ødegaard - Szoboszlai
Trossard - Gakpo
Diaz - Martinelli

We probably have 1 more player because of Merino. But anyway just to repeat, it was just an observation that they are making it work regardless to fit in an elite player.

You could argue that if we had signed a Wirtz it would have negated the need to sign firepower in one of the attacking positions, and he would have been sure fire quality, especially considering we have no idea what’s going on with Ødegaard and we could end up needing an AM next summer if he doesn’t change big time.

This has fully ruined the window for me already, if you saw my posts a few weeks ago you'd know why.

I know you shouldn't concentrate on other teams, anything can happen bla bla bla. But this is a big deal. I said a few weeks back in my opinion there's three "available" difference makers we should be looking at. Isak, Wirtz and Rodrygo. Obviously if we get Rodrygo fair enough but I just think he stays at Madrid.

Isak looks like he's staying, groin surgery in the summer as well. This would hurt me and I think I'd be very close to giving up with this club.

Maybe better for us.

We would be seen as an outsider, probably a 2 horse race with City and Lpool while we are chasing third place. Less pressure and who knows we can do what Lpool has done.

I know football doesn't work on paper, gonna take a while for Pool to gel again, but it's not looking good brev.

Argument was that he is not coming to play LW for Lpool which I question big time because they are selling Diaz and replacing him with Wirtz. We could have done the same with selling Martinelli and playing Wirtz LW.

Let us not exagerate a little bit.

Yeah they have a quality squad but we are not far away from them, especially if we get Rodrygo and Sesko/Gyokeres. We just need to have more squad depth and more rotation.

Raya = Alisson
Timber > Frimpong
Saliba > Konate
Gabriel = Van Dijk (34 years old)
MLS/Calafriori = Kerkez
Zubimendi/Partey = Gravenberch
Rice = MacAlister
Ødegaard = Szoboszlai
Saka < Salah
Sesko(Gyokeres)/Havertz/Jesus = Gakpo/Jota/Nunez
Rodrygo = Wirtz

Slot > Arteta

Come on, how is Slot any better than Arteta? So by this logic, Slot is better than Klopp as he became champions with the squad of Klopp ...

People are really overreacting to this year. We were last 4 in CL and still 2nd in the EPL. City lost Rodri and their season ended. We lost Ode, Saka, Jesus, Havertz & Gabriel for a long period of time.
