Can’t remember a player starting as badly as Wirtz.

I think what his signing shows is you don’t pay massive money for players with no PnP.

Ideally, you also sign players from within the PL.

There are usually guys floating about at the nothing clubs that one of the big boys will always be all over: Bale, Kane, VVD, Rice. These are 100m plus players (inflation adjusted).

I’m certain Arteta would never fall into a trap like Wirtz.
Genuinely think this is one of the reasons United fell off post-Fergie. I’m convinced the likes of Grealish, Rice and Kane would be United players if he was still manager.

Arteta buy players he got plans behind them. Liverpool signed players this season without planning just wanted to show off they got money after Ekitike they didn't need Isak they needed a winger and CB. Even Wirtz signing not necessary because thier midfield is good and its shows they have no idea where to use him

I think them failing to sign Bale in 2013 was a real watershed moment for the club, as sign that they no longer would dominate English football.

Arteta has fundamentals for signings, especially ones for big money.

They have to be top athletes as well as having top level experience. If they don't have both of these things he doesn't sign them (if the outlay is significant).

All in all its a the tried and tested formula that never fails.

I do think the Wirtz stuff gets a bit overblown. I'm not saying he's been good so far, he hasn't but at least he has the excuse of finding his feet at a new club after a huge money move.

There are other guys at the clubs who have proven PL quality, won everything and look like they've totally fallen off a cliff performance wise.

If I were a Liverpool fan I'd be more worried about them.

How that even possible lol
Apparently after PSG knocked them out in early March of last year they have lost 40% of their games since. They could use the excuse they won the title early and eased up but their performance in the league cup final against Newcastle should have told them something was going wrong. They were completely outplayed and were lucky it didn't up 4-0.

Meh, Bale was always destined for Madrid/Barca. United never coming close to signing Kane was more indicative of how bad they've become.

SAFs entire transfer strategy was basically buying the best player in the PL outside of United-Arsenal.

I dont think so. He has been genuinely awful. Barely looks like a footballer most of the time so far which is concerning. Completely lost.

I still can't forget our match against them 2 months ago.
If only Arteta wasn't coward with his lineup.
It was the third game of the season. Liverpool spent £400m and Arsenal weren’t even close firing on all cilinders yet. But sure, let’s go to Anfield and play basketball football because that’s how Slot wants his opponents to play, right? Sounds like a good idea.

A draw away at Sunderland is a good point but aiming for a draw at Anfield is cowardly?

Yeah, makes sense.

Those GMs have the mentality of poor people who win the lottery. They go broke in a few years because they can’t handle sudden wealth. When they were low on funds, they actually had to be creative with their money. Now instead of using their brains, they spending the money like confetti and are planning for another 100m transfer to buy Bastoni.

Arteta left both Ødegaard and Eze on the bench against Liverpool.
Liverpool played defensively against Arsenal first 60 minutes and we missed creativity in this 60 minutes.
You can't compare it with Sunderland match where our squad missed 5 players from attack (Gyokeres, Havertz, Jesus, Martinelli and Madueke) and Ødegaard.

I am actually in this case in agreement with you. Arteta really approached the match against Liverpool with far too much respect, but we also have to take into account the fact that we played against Liverpool at the very beginning of the season, and everything suggested that Liverpool would once again very likely be fighting for the title. It came as a real surprise to many of us how weak Liverpool actually is, and their player signings really did not hit the mark. So in that sense I give Arteta a bit of forgiveness for being too cautious. If the match were played for example now, I believe Arteta would approach it with a different tactic.

Arsenal Quotes

Everybody knows how much I love Arsenal - I became a fan. And to be out here [in front of the Emirates as a statue] celebrating a goal against Sp*rs, there's not much else to say after that. Like I've said before: Once a Gooner, always a Gooner.
