It's an age old mistake, teams (including us with Subs) reward players for what they've done, not what they will do over the length of their contract

Salah was never going to be a a £400k player over the duration of this contract
But would the better choice be to let him go free? The whole fan base was pushing for him to get extended and he just won the best player in the league

By signing both Ekitike and Isak it makes it so difficult for Liverpool to get a balanced front three without dropping one of the big hitters or playing someone out of position. Part of Salahs success is that he's been the main man, the team works to get him the ball. Now they've got two players who want similar service. If you have three guys who just primarily want to score goals it's gonna have a knock on effect and the team as a whole will suffer.

I think giving Salah the contract in isolation isn't bad but when you bring in not only Ekitike but then Isak for massive money on deadline day it's left themselves in this position. Even worse with the fact that Isak hasn't hit the ground running at all.

Ekitike showed in the past he can enable a similar type of player in Marmoush, Isak not so much. Either way having someone better than that bloated bellend in charge they don't look this horrific all over the pitch

No point speculating what or why so just facts for the moment. Salah dragged a Liverpool team to the title that had absolutely no business winning one. He's also the #1 reason they broke their 30 year wait for their first title and won a CL along the way, well him and Klopp and his steroids.

Liverpool as a whole look a complete shambles. Van Dijk might be a twerking fish who's genuinely washed but no way the rest of that team are playing anywhere close to their level including Salah. Wirtz was on Ballon d'Or level not that long ago, the best player of a team that won a title unbeaten now he's looking like Thomas Eisfeld.

Awful transfer business yes but beyond that Slot will end up a Di Matteo type of manager, his man management skills are exactly what you expect from that bald fat Dutch mess and he'll be sacked soon regardless of what happens with Salah.

Salah is 100% right to a) stand up for himself with pricks like Carragher chatting **** about him all day, he joined Liverpool when they were fighting for 4th ffs they weren't **** before him. And b) this interview damages them even further so anyone thinking he's in the wrong can't be a real Arsenal fan.

Come on mate, that's too harsh to pile on Salah. He earned his right to defend himself after the media piled on his poor form as the key reason for the season so far. If that's the true reason, then what does it say for precious season's when he dragged them to the title alone (2025) and then also to CL and PL earlier.

Liverpool's problem this year is not on them not scoring enough goals, their biggest problem is leaky defence led by that diva VanDijk and some shocking replacements by Slott in Kerkez, Frimpong etc...

Yes, Salah's form this year was not the best yet, but for media and here to make it sound like his drop of form is the main cause for poor Liverpool season is too far. Salah is their best player in PL era, far far better than Slippy G and Spittin' J.
Listen to what he said. He said that because of what he has done in the past that he doesn't have to earn a spot in the starting lineup. That's insanity.

I didn't say that it was right the way that Slot treated him nor did I say that it was fair that he was being treated as the sole scapegoat for a situation where a lot of people share blame. You cannot however as a professional tell the media that you can't be benched because of what you've done in the past.

If your performances are detrimental to the club then you absolutely can be benched. The manner in which it happens and the respect or lack thereof with which it is done by the manager is a separate issue which I didn't offer an opinion on but no player can expect that they are undroppable regardless of form because they've been good in the past and to verbalize that is insanely egotistical.

I would have been totally fine with his statement outside of the notion that he no longer needs to earn anything. Every player, no matter what their legacy at a club is needs to earn the right to play. He should have stuck to feeling disrespected by the manager which it sounds like he has been. To say that you can't be dropped because you've been good in the past when you've been diabolical for entire season is pathetic and I would be livid if any of our players said that.

I think losing TAA is proving to be a bigger problem for Liverpool than they anticipated. With him they could dominate the right side in attack. Bradley can't do that, so he has to do more defending. Salah doesn't do defending though which leaves Bradley on his own and exposed.
At the same time Salah doesn't get the same support in attack he used to, so he can't be as effective anymore either.

I guess that's karma for Liverpool fans for hounding Trent out of town.

They're really going to stumble into replacing Slot with Xabi Alonso and getting a Salah bailout from Saudi Arabia smh...lucky bastards

On another note, I ****ing hate this one word at the end of the post thing the Opta account does. Annoying.
Does my head in as well. Glad it’s not just me that this pisses off

Perhaps a very petty point but does anyone else despite this format of post that Opta has popularised. A little fact followed by a little word to sum it up?
