I just don't get the reaction, "he's going for free", why the **** with TAA want to make a transfer more difficult for himself? He's one everything he can at Liverpool, he's helped bring them success they've not seen for 3+ decades. Their first league titles in 30 years. Everything domestically, the CL, super cup and club world cup and he's leaving them after a successful season which he's contributed immensely. And they're still acting like brats. It's crazy because this is the first time in ages that I can remember fans becoming very angry and upset over a player moving clubs and it''s not even a club from the same country.

When was the last time a move upset fans? Felt like it happened al the time back in the day. RVP, Campbell, Figo, Cole, Tevez. Feels like those type of transfers became kind of extinct until now.

There’s more to the world than living in the city you grew up in. Wanting to experience a different Culture, lifestyle, weather… people have different reasons for wanting to move and a football career is short as it is.

Genuinely insane how you can win everything and still get called a snake because you're heading to the biggest club on the planet.

It's poor taste, but a snake or a lizard? They've got one of the best backups in the league as well.

Madrid wouldn’t sign him if he signed a contract with Liverpool, no one is gonna pay that kind of fee for a fullback.

He was completely professional through all of this. He owes the club nothing, he completed his contract.

I wouldn't have booed Trent. But I think it's a bit more granular than it looks. Trent has appeared to some Liverpool fans to run his contract down to "collect the bag", and I think the Liverpool fan narrative is that you expect foreign players to do things like that not the local lads. McManaman left on a free, but I think that was because he got wind of that Liverpool tired to sell him to Barcelona the previous season before.

Also, I think Trent has a had a mixed attitude over the years where he looks like he's "coasting" on his technique rather than applying technique + workrate. There have been games where he's looked like he doesn't give 100%, to the point where Liverpool have let goals in, and it's been obvious.

Liverpool fans would rather give love to a ****ty workhorses like Nunez and part-time racists (Saurez) than a player who appears sometimes to be lazy and half-assed. I think the boos are the culmination of those things as well. I think Trent is naturally stoic and shy, but this too I think is adding to the narrative that he doesn't really care about the club as much as he claimed he did.

But definitely some Liverpool fans are crazy, I remember hearing that one of the reasons Steven Gerrard didn't move to Chelsea was because he feared for his family life as they had received death threats from "local gangsters".

I can see why Liverpool fans are hurt, but still, I agree I wouldn't have booed.
