Looking back, it was a odd decision to sign him. Wenger had already decided to play Alexis as 9 with Giroud as back up with Welbeck coming back sometime later. The real question should be why we didn't try to sign a winger like Mahrez after we failed with the Mkhitaryan approach?? It would've been a much better option than spending 17m on a player who Wenger clearly wasn't too keen on.

Mahrez would have been major for us. He'd help us carve open those tight defenses and he'd create chances out of nowhere. He's also familiar with launching a very speedy striker into deadly counter attacks. He was there for the taking many times.

Created the second most goal scoring chances in la liga last year behind only messi...on a relegation team. He would firmly compete for a starting spot here.
Alex Granell is third in the chance creation list just a couple back from Lucas & with more assists.
