He is DM he ball winner he not attacking mid he always preform well when he play in his preferred position

It seems clear that Emery wants a certain role to be performed but we do not have a player in the squad who is naturally suited to that role. So, instead of altering his approach, he's just trying to ram a square peg into a round hole.
We have several midfield combinations that, on paper at least, should form a well-balanced midfield. It is truly beyond me why we never play any of them. Emery seems to rigidly adhere to some idealised midfield setup he's got in his head, even though he does not have the players for it. So he's trying to change the players rather than his system. That's a recipe for failure.

We don't have Banega and we don't have Nzonzi. We do have a specialist dm anchor and a ton of number 8s in front of him. He needs to start putting players in their preferred position and just let them play.

funny thing is that his runs forward from CDM are devastating.
He will score more easily if he is allowed to make runs from deep.
We use to have a player that was outstanding in his role, Emery didn’t fancy him, think he got shifted to Italy.

Torreira seem to be set the task of marking and keeping close to Pogba which he did to pefection ( first touch Pogba got Torreira nicked the ball of him straight away and he intecepted pass meant for Pogba near the end of the first half).

You put Özil, Willock or Ceballos in his Position and they probably bury that early Chance. I think he has a future here but he has to be the deepest midfielder.
