I think Torreira has the right skillset to play as a 6 for us. He can transition between defense and attack much faster than Xhaka and Guendouzi. However, he clearly does not have the athleticism nor mobility to play as a more advanced midfielder to disrupt the build up play. He looked lost and was easily bypassed.

Not his fault he was put in that position though.

We use to have a player that was outstanding in his role, Emery didn’t fancy him, think he got shifted to Italy.

Ramsey never got shifted to Italy, he never signed the contract offered to him and was always going to go to Juventus.

Ramsey left Arsenal he wasn't forced out, who would pick us over Juventus really? Going from Iwobi to Ronaldo is a no brainer and they're paying him like 4 times what we were. He also said that he always wanted to play abroad.

Torreira seem to be set the task of marking and keeping close to Pogba which he did to pefection ( first touch Pogba got Torreira nicked the ball of him straight away and he intecepted pass meant for Pogba near the end of the first half).
Emery tried to get him to do the same job Ramsey did on Jorginho last season. It stifles the heart of our opponent.

Ramsey said in a interview he verbally agreed a contract with us but then Arsenal withdrew the contract offer without a reason given to him according to interview he gave Amy Lawrence. Which is no surprise because Ramsey wasn't in the first team at the time. Only after Ramsey signed for Juventus did his performances improve and he regained his first team spot.

No big lose as Willock and Guendouzi are already more complete CMs.

Main gripe with him is that he is a complete passenger when we are trying to build out from the back. Rarely shows to receive and is too conservative with his passing. Was good tonight that aside.

I thought he got better as the game went through.
he looks low on confidence and rythm but we should give him a run of games playing as a DM and see what he's able to do.

His head was totally gone at times in that game. Looked bereft of confidence. But once he started winning a few duels, he grew and improved.

League is very weak
He’s got another Copa America in the summer, which will affect the start of next season for him.

Very stop/start type time at Arsenal for Torreira.

Absolutely terrible in the role we are trying to play him in.

But he’s not an innocent victim, his poor distribution is the reason why Emery is trying to try him out in other positions.

Doesn’t matter how good you are at breaking up play if you’re just going to pass it to the opposition in the middle third. It’s a risk having him that deep against quality opposition hence why we are trying this B2B stuff.

Arsenal offered him a contract, he didn't sign it, they withdrew the offer. He probably didn't sign it because he was seeing what offers were out there, one Juventus were in the picture Arsenal probably withdrew their offer instead of playing the agent/money game. I don't begrudge him for it, but I don't think he was some victim forced out.

Ramsey said himself he wanted to sign was verbally agreed to sign but the contract was withdrawn by Arsenal before he could. Which is understanding by Arsenal at the time due to Ramsey poor form then.

Emery doing to Torreira what Wenger did to Song and I'm not a fan. Barely half the player he is now. Needs to play as a DM.
