Again he is not an Emery type of CM, very similar case to Özil. He will do well in a Uruguay kind of setup where his role is well drilled and defined.

If Torreira Xhaka Laca Auba all left then we are in again for another rebuilding season. I understand Torreira wanting to leave he not playing much and when playing he play in position that won't ever suit him but I hope now with Xhaka situation it's perfect chance for him to get back play in his preferred position

Emery saying this about Lucas:

It is no secret that a lack of creativity has been an issue for Arsenal this season - as well as giving up more shots to their opponents, the statistics show that they are attempting fewer themselves - and it is part of the reason why Mesut Özil has returned to the side recently.

"We have different players to use in different games," says Emery. "Mesut Özil has characteristics that are very good for the team. When he is available, when he is consistent and positive in the day-to-day, he is an important player for our game, because we need a player like him.

"But we also have other players, like [Dani] Ceballos, who is in a process of adaptation, like Matteo [Guendouzi], who has improved a lot, like Lucas Torreira as well.

He puts him in the same bag as Özil, Ceballos, Guendouzi.

"We have Torreira, who is capable of playing a pressing game and playing in the build-up play, but who is also very good at arriving in the box as the second line of attack.

I think he's confusing him with Ramsey

The mistake was issuing the 'hands off warning' in the summer & not selling him. It seems Emery gave Lucas a fair run of games then completely lost faith after how we collapsed during the run in... Just like Mustafi he has gone from nailed on starter to bit part player.

Maybe returning to Leicester today he can win back some faith today at the scene of the 3-0. We need him till January at the very least after AWOL Xhaka.

Am still not sure how good Torreria is. Seeing as plenty of teams seems to be bossing possession, we definitely needs some players who can win the ball back!

A lot of players are going to get exposed when Emery leaves. It is easy to make excuses for them now because Emery is crap, but some of them are plain rubbish no matter who the coach is.

I’ve been saying this, posters on this forum will realise the guys they fanboy over are bums sooner or later.

What I've learned last year from that amazing run from Ajax is how the team wins the ball. There wasn't a single specialist for that, but the team was set to press the **** out of the opposition and collectively they would force mistakes in the opposition game.
So far, the best defender we've had this year was Martinelli with his pressing and hard work from the attack, forcing defenders to panic, make mistakes and eventually kicking the ball out of play or losing it. Martinelli is just one small piece of the puzzle that Ajax does and we need to add more to that concept.

If you want to see a single DMC that will win the ball for the rest of the team while they jog around or listen to Emery, good luck with that mate, that doesn't exist.

Torreira has already played plenty of excellent games for us, we know he's got the quality. Players go through periods of bad form all the time. Playing under a bum manager and out of position hasn't done his form any favours either.

Torreira just is not and never will be good enough with the ball for a team trying to get into the top4.
His sideway passing makes Elneny look like Özil ffs

Rewatch some of him last season. His skillset is far more than just a midfield destroyer. If he couldn't play with the ball Emery wouldn't be trying to play him so far forward.
