Good performance today, winning possesion on numerous occasions, hard working, looking good technically on the ball whilst playing at a fast tempo. I was gutted when they took him of instead of Xhaka.

Don’t understand why Emery had Torreira has the furthest midfielder up the pitch. He is a 6 and only a 6, it would have made more sense to play Willock or Cellabos.

Emery's midfield system is a deep lying playmaker with 2 other midfielders playing in front, and Torreira can't be that deep lying playmaker. Emery wants to turn Torreira into a Kante, someone who is able to win the ball up the pitch. Like Ramsey did last season. Problem is that Torreira simply isn't on Kante's level, or even Ramsey's level for that matter.

People underrate Kante’s quickness. He can cover the ground way more than most midfielders so it makes sense for him to be higher up the pitch. I don’t get Emery at all.

Cause this is Emery logic, defend from the front. Probably had some sick thought like Torreira winning back the ball high up the pitch. Spanish Mourinho spends more time thinking about what we do when we don’t have the ball instead of when we do have it.
