Couldn't find any topics discussing the player so I thought I'd make one. It may be bad timing considering we play Liverpool tomorrow but this guy deserves his own thread, up there with the best strikers in the world imo. He struggled to hit goal scoring form initially for Liverpool despite putting in great performances, but now he has got the end product to go with his talent and skill which makes him the most exciting player in the league. I know some aren't fond of him due to all the controversy he creates but take nothing away from his ability as a player.

My question to you is, how do you rate him? Do you think he deserves a place alongside the likes of Falcao/RVP/Ibrahimovic/Cavani?

try tevez/aguero level first, although i would say he's in the same boat as cavani - needs to consistently prove himself. at the right age to hit that top bracket, both of them though.

The most exciting player in the league you say? Absolutely not. He's a great striker, but not as good as Falcao/RVP/Ibrahimovic/Cavani. Suarez just has a little less quality in many areas.

Playing with Suarez means that most offensive tactics you use are quite useless, because he always does what he feels like. Trying to go past three players while there is someone in the box I could pass it to? Why not. Shooting from impossible positions when I could also keep possession and try to create an actual chance? Sure. Basically the game plan of liverpool (and it was the same at Ajax) is to pass the ball to Suarez as quickly as possible, and he will do something good (or bad) with it.

Suarez is both a blessing and a curse for his team.

Having said that, I kind of like watching Suarez, because despite the fact that he often tries to do the impossible, he manages to make the impossible possible by scoring some amazing goals. I always knew he was a great goalscorer, I believe I even predicted he would be PL topscorer this season in the predictions thread months ago. I think opponents hate to play against him, because he is incredibly unpredictable.

Around Tevez/Agüero level is where I'd put him as well. Cavani is clearly more developed imo, at the same age he has around double his goal tally in the last three seasons, this season he's on more than a goal per game ratio FFS, that's higher than RVP, more Falcao, Ronaldo, Messi territory.

The only world class quality he has is his work rate the rest are average including his finishing. He misses more than he scores and that's definitely not a trait you'd associate with a world class striker. I'll take Michu over him in a heartbeat purely for the clinical finishing.

Obviously this diving **** is talented. But he isn't good enough to be rated among the few top strikers. Agree with Som on his work rate and his finishing. Apart from that while he's being very active, he sometimes overlooks his team mates.

His dribbling is top notch, probably the best in the prem when it comes to that. Can see him moving to Madrid or Bayern in the summer.

Re: The magnificent Luis Suarez

Other than the fact that he's the biggest c*** in football, yes he is a good player. However, he is incredibly overrated.

Not on the level of Van Persie, Falcao, Aguero, Tevez, Cavani, or Rooney.

No he isn't. He has 21 goals in 31 matches, all competitions. 16 in 22 in the league.

It's misinformation like this which leads to him being so overrated.

Re: The magnificent Luis Suarez

Well, the usual sources tell me otherwise, and they seem to be more reliable than the ones you just quoted. He can't be on 16 goals in 22 in the league since he only played 19 matches (missing three with injury), and pretty much all sources I can find say he has 18 goals.

I can actually say I definitely know that your stats are wrong, since I've watched the Napoli matches vs Dnipro and PSV, three games in which he scored six times, which is already more than the five goals in non-league competitions you give him credit for.

Edit: I see where the problem lies, I'm talking about Cavani here, not Suárez.

Ah I must apologise, I should have noticed. I didn't see that you were talking about Cavani.

Great player but yet to really perform against the bigger sides which doesn't put him among the greatest strikers in the world for me. Had to be lying if I said I wouldn't love it if he wore the right red jersey though.

He's world class. Produces breathtaking moments of skill. Just waiting for the obligatory 'doesn't do it against big sides' comment and we'll be rolling. :D

^We can can look past that. We're better than that at Arsenal. He'll change his ways if he sees the appreciation on this board. Lets make it happen before signing him.

The ball with the outside of his boot for the useless bloke to miss was something to behold. I saw him shaping up and said, nah, no way son....whooosh. Landed on a sixpence. Fantastic.

Arsenal Quotes

One of the things I discovered in Japan was from watching sumo wrestling. At the end you can never tell who has won the fight, and who has lost, because they do not show their emotion because it could embarrass the loser. It is unbelievable. That is why I try to teach my team politeness. It is only here in England that everybody pokes their tongue out when they win.
