Never seen him play. Lack of other top teams in for him on a free is worrying though. Wouldn't mind him if we can shift Kolasinac (highly doubtful).

It's hard to judge CB's just from stats, but these would suggest he's good at passing, intercepting and not much else. But who knows, maybe that's enough to be a CB for a possession-based team these days. Certainly sounds like an Arsenal CB anyway!

Looks like the perfect compliment to Saliba if you compare their charts

Passing in final 3rd is impressive considering hie CB his long passing too can see why Arteta want him

It'd be a colossal mistake if we passed on this guy simply because he isn't the ready-made CB that will improve our defense straight away or because we have too many CBs.

Free transfer. 21 year old promising CB with more than 100 league games under his belt. The exact profile of the CB that would be a good fit for Saliba. Good long passer, good with the ball at his feet, more of an opportunistic defender than solid positioning one. Speaks the same language as well.

Main point is that he is better than Holding and is physically immaculate.

It's hard not to think of Campbell-Touré when you think about the prospects of a Saliba-Sarr partnership. A taller CB with excellent heading and solid positioning (Campbell-Saliba) combined with a shorter CB with opportunistic tackling and ability to play from the back (Touré-Sarr). Yes, it won't come together straight away. That doesn't matter as much as some think. You'll be looking at partnering the younger CB with an older CB until they gain enough experience to go together anyway.

I had Sarr as one of my alternative LCBs to target in the summer long before it came out that he wouldn't be renewing his contract with Nice and would become a free agent. By that point it just became a no-brainer.

Hmm I mean you're making it sound like he'd be the perfect long-term partner for Saliba, and that's pushing it. On a free transfer it could be a good deal with a lot of upside, but it's not like he's the perfect option out there. Perfect long-term partner for Saliba is someone like Gabriel Magalhaes.

Gabriel would be good too, he's better than Sarr at this point - but in terms of the profile and upside, Sarr is up there.

Yeah he's better than Sarr at this point, but he might just be better than Sarr full stop. Sarr isn't gonna grow and become an imposing presence who dominates in the air, whereas Gabriel already is that.

Gabriel is a frickin' left-footed Saliba, like why wouldn't you want that? I'd 100% pay the 25m or whatever if it meant having a potentially complete CB partnership.

If finances are really really tight and Sarr is the only deal you can do, then fine, but if you can do a deal for Gabriel you do it, no question.

Well your premise is flawed here because Gabriel is my preferred candidate at LCB, has been for a while. That doesn't mean I can't make a case for Sarr's prospects as a partner to Saliba, it doesn't have to be either/or.
