Not saying this exact thing specifically, but almost anytime a fifa or uefa rule is broken, they tend to come down hard initially and then overturn or significantly reduce the penalty later on. How many time have we seen transfer bans lifted early or entirely? More than a couple if memory serves.

No sympathy with financial doping but the fact the running was being made by the La Liga president is risible. Real Madrid are the most financially doped team in the last 70 years and have consistently cheated, received state aid, played by different rules to their rivals and been helped by referees to win countless trophies.

You could be looking at 8th place getting a Europa League spot if this ban sticks. If City win the League cup and a top 7 team wins the FA Cup 8th in the league will enter the Europa at the second round qualifying stage. Not ideal but an extra £30mish if we have Europa football and we will need every penny this summer.
