You earn a pittance from being in the EL, I highly doubt it would have factored in that heavily in their financials.
Arsenal earned 25 million euros last time from UEL, and the cup winners get 9 million euros more, 5 million for reaching the final.

I wouldn't say it's a pittance?

I'd rather say UECL money is a pittance? ;)

It's a pittance relative to the value of someone like Rashford and Man Utd as a whole. He's their biggest star, very likely the most profitable name in terms of advertising, merch and all that. In other words, it doesn't dictate your squad building in terms of who to keep of your stars etc. At worst it might deter you from signing that extra squad player or spending £15m more on a specific deal.

All is relative of course but you don't sell your biggest star because you missed out on EL football - unless he pushes for a move but that applies to any scenario.

Essays are my thing
Not sure I'm buying this, but I think Rashford is exactly the sort of player that Arteta could make explode in this system if he bought in. That combination of pace and size from out wide, dovetialing with a CF who drops deep a lot is interesting, particularly given the quality of delivery from our right side.

Whether it makes sense more broadly would depend on what we are planning to do at left full back next season, and the CM balance. With more of a double pivot and a LB who can hold width as well as inverting, it could make a lot of sense.

That said I don't see it happening unless utd are looking to move him on.

On a free or with contract running down I'd be all for it. But his mega wage + a mega fee make this a no go for me.

🤔Ok I've changed my mind.

I'm all aboard the Rashy train if we can get him on loan & Man U pay half his wages💪🏾.

Rashford thread done, Solanke next. Blimey.

Nah, Solanke won't have the highs this thread might achieve if we somehow get an actual, credible link in.

Callum Wilson, on the other hand.... the whiplash some posters might get would be *chefs kiss*.

I have seen Newcastle fans on Twitter say... "We can't keep Isak and Bruno now as we aren't in the Conference League" ...what
Lol Europa money is ok but is conference league not a pittance?

Probably better not being in it. When you factor in flying their squad to the games/ hotel expenses etc.

Bet some of the teams from smaller countries are literally jumping on buses & staying in hostels.

Tbf though the Toon will now unfortunately have to miss out on their official £100m conference league toilet roll sponser that the Saudis had lined up for them.🤣

If we get credible link for this clown I think this might be it for me. I think I'd unironically prefer Wilson.

There is no scenario where a Mikel Arteta team would carry a player like that.
Auba was clocking his career best return in distance covered under him.

Everyone has to work or his philosophy is dead.
I’m sure he will be required to

What the **** is going on here. 15 pages off of a bad source for Thrashy PRashy?! Just goes to show how deluded you English are with your own. If his name was Marco Rashifordi he wouldn’t even get a look in with those stats
