Should Ødegaard stay or go?

  • Keep him

  • Sell him

The game plan you talking about is the same game plan every small team adapts cs City. Defend for dear life and hope to ride your luck. With Ode our chances are much better as we are much better team. Without him you will see City play with 5 attacking players as we are zero threat from midfield. We rode our luck last season I doubt same will happen
out of all bad luck, I think it is kind of a bid lucky that Ode was underperforming in our first three games.
it will be a tragedy to have an in-form Ode out.

It's likely that Ødegaard and Merino return around the same time. Once settled in, Merino occupies the 8 while Rice slots in at 6. Martin can then play in his favoured 10 role.

Neither am I , interested to see how we are a bit more direct. Besides the last two times we have visited City might as well have played with 10 men he was so ineffective

Pep would have set up with an aggressive press to nullify Ødegaard by stopping him from turning and facing their defence.

Hoping we keep compact and break on them with pace. That’s where one of our best opportunities came last season when Trossard failed to square it to Martinelli in the space. Chelsea in the PL and Utd during their FA Cup final done well vs City by employing those tactics. Jackson in particular was causing them all sorts of problems.

We dont really mate, because we wont look to be as aggressive as we usually are. We can focus on our shape and how to create the turnovers and space we need.

Of course if I had a choice he'd be there, helping us with that game plan.

I remember when we started Kieran Tierney vs City. Now we have the towers and White/Timber with Caliafori/Zinny in reserve. Offense wasn't our problem then. Also City gives up goals. They aren't a stout defensive side.

The difference for both sides last year was a Martinelli goal at Emirates.

We definitely will stay compact. Too bad Sterling isn’t fit yet. Here is pretty effective against City

He's not really that big a miss against City because we'll likely see something similar as the NLD and I can't recall Ødegaard ever doing too much against them either tbh.

We're going to be as boring and stingy as anyone has ever seen us this weekend now, even more than we would have been before. And the usual suspects will say we aren't being ambitious enough. Of course, if we were ambitious and went for it and got smacked they'd be saying we're naive.

Yes. And based on your reply, you seem think it's poor management to both have kept Vieira and loaned him?
I think it’s poor management to have built a squad so reliant on Ødegaard that we give up the idea of actually playing through midfield if he is not here

As I said before, and which you seemed to agree with, if we had kept Vieira you would also have called that poor squad management. Because you base you posts entirely on opposing whatever the current state is.

E.g. last year you wanted us to sign Rice when it looked like City might get him. Then once we got him you started hating on him lol.

our attack is pretty even in everywhere, from the middle, right or left.
maybe a bit more on the right, but majority definitely is not from the middle.

Arsenal Quotes

Thierry Henry was very quick at analysing everything that was going on and how he needed to react. This intelligence, this capacity to evaluate, understand and question oneself, is also the mark of great players... For everyone, for the fans and for us, he symbolised the golden age of Arsenal.
