In hindsight we weren’t gonna beat Mourinho’s Porto in the final, he had Wenger’s number.
Would be hard but we've had players at the time who were able to win games on their own, it's not like today when you shut down Saka and the team is done

I agree but we did lose to Chelsea though, also I don’t think Arsène had an answer for Mourinho’s bus parking style back then.

I guess we'll never know, but I think Wenger could've beat Mourinho before he had unlimited resources. That Porto side was a well-oiled machine, but we clearly had the better players.

Can't blame Ødegaard at all for this, he clearly did what he could.

Think people calling his personal performance poor are just looking at the result and assuming the performance. He does still look a touch laboured to me but IMO you create this much and the team don't score from your supply then its on the forwards and not you.

He was poor before they went down to 10 men, and bottled the season defining penalty.

I want more from my captain, he’s a top player but he’s been an absolute disgrace for ages now.

No amount of half space crosses against a rubbish 10 men United will pull the wool over my eyes.

I need to know what these chances were because these stats can be misleading. At the same time I think it’s obvious we created lots of chances just the finishing was poor.
I mean in yesterday’s game a lot of these were pretty clear. We should be here talking about Ødegaard putting in a top creative display but the misses, including his own, just ruined it

There's a big change in Ødegaard game IMO. He used to shoot a lot and run into box to finish the cutbacks.

Ever since we stop playing proper fullbacks and do cut backs, he has seldom ran into the box but instead plays more like a DLP. He's still decent but nowhere near as influential with that

I am sure no one is as gutted as Ødegaard on that miss. We've had two very strange games tbh. Finishing has just been killing us and the good news is that nothing lasts forever. We have Sp**s to beat on Wednesday.
Two things standing out in recent weeks, we concede from highly unlikely situations and we're not finishing in high probability situations.

I went back to try find old threads after reading this and people saw 2003/04 as a disappointment because we only won the league. If only they knew what was to come 😭
Most fans will never be happy and a large proportion of the fanbase will be chronic whiners regardless of what happens. All that happens if you become successful is expectations shift to wanting more and more. Many fans don't have much success in their own lives so they attach responsibility on the shoulders of 11 people they've never met to bring joy to them.

Back in the 2000's, I used to frequent Barcelona and AC Milan forums, during their golden years. If you think it was all hunky dory and full of positivity, you'd be mistaken. I remember the vast majority wanted Samuel Eto'o out. Even on A-M, there were a number of Henry critics.

I find it jarring the way this bottling thing gets thrown around like seasoning. Not every failure or mistake is “bottling”. Anyone can miss a penalty.

If he hadn’t been diabolical for the last few months then he’d be getting some leeway.

This guy is our supposed world class midfielder and captain. Everyone is killing the manager/Havertz, this bloke should be held to the same standard.

If you criticise Wenger three times in a row you'll summon the Arsène Ultras and before you know it you're in an argument you don't even care about.

I don't know why we've internalised opposition fans propaganda, but we've got Arsenal fans saying an 89 point season is "bottling the league", and yeah it is tiresome.
