Been saying this for two years. He’s not good enough to start or be captain.

Yeah it’s nothing new. Even when he was handed the captaincy, I think some of us were unsure so he’s just saying what we really think. Back then I was actually saying Xhaka should have been it as he was our true leader plus it would have been a real kick in the face to the fans that abused him and always talked sh*t on his name.

People seem to really dislike Arteta, I kind of get it but it's obviously not just about the football.
People's opinions are influenced by the media. When they portray him as this dirty evil guy, even some of our own fans will start to believe it. I know his behavior on the sidelines and in interviews has caused some anger, but its not like klopp and pep are any better.

Rival fans dislike him because he often complains about refereeing decisions in quite an animated manner on the sidelines.

Within our fanbase, I think it mostly stems from him binning two figures beloved by many fans (Özil and Auba). He was completely right on both occasions so I'm not one of those people, but there are many.

I also think he comes across as smug to a lot of people and he does play into that sometimes with his antics.

What fvcking difference does it make in the pitch? Does it make Rice more creative? Ode is far more important to the team
So you not only weren't fed as a houseguest, you also have never played a sport.

It absolutely does matter who leads a team on the pitch. Creativity means f*ck all with regards to leadership. Was Patrick Vieira creative? What about Roy Keane?

Jordan Henderson was about as average a footballer as you can be, not creative in the slightest yet for the entire time he was at Liverpool under Klopp, the team was only ever really at 100% with him out there leading them.

It's worth remembering by the way that Martin Ødegaard created virtually nothing against Madrid and one was of the few Arsenal players who was poor against them. What got us past Madrid in fact was Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka ignoring Ødegaard's subservience to a set piece coach and choosing to CREATE something themselves.

The tie would have been very different if they had relied on his leadership and that is the sort of thing that Tony Adams was referring to but you can only learn things like that by playing sports yourself rather than sitting in your friends room alone and hungry. 🤡

People have every right to feel how they feel about Adams being publicly critical of Ødegaard. I'm not here to tell anyone whether they should like that or not.

What I will say is that it's an opportunity for Ødegaard since he very clearly is going to remain the captain to take that criticism and use it as fuel to prove his detractors wrong.

A strong character wouldn't sulk our pout about it. In fact, they might even call a Tony Adams or a Patrick Vieira to have a conversation about how they feel he could improve as a leader and then choose to take that feedback on board or not. Saka is notorious for asking people like Thierry and Arsène how he can improve and that is why we've seen him do so every single season of his career.

Nah. Wish I hadn't voted for him when he was embarrassing himself on Strictly now
I don’t know what he did on Strictly but he was our best captain at least in the last 30 years. Him being sent through by Bould to score that volley in 97/98 was one of the most outstanding moments I can remember as a fan. The players had a huge amount of respect for him because he was a real leader and captain. At his best he was a world class defender too.

I watched us without Ode. And I watched us without Rice. I know which one is more important to the team and which one is fan favourite who gets no criticism

Rice is an 8 that’s treated like a DM when it comes to expectations in creativity. No one ever blames him for our lack of creativity despite playing in equal position to Ode to effect the game

Like I said I want Ode out for 3-4 months so you people get reminder of our football when he was out

Changing captains is an insane thing to do if the person being stripped of it is still supposed to be a big part of the team. It's a non-starter until Ødegaard leaves.
He won't change the captain , that's obvious. He shouldn't have made the mistake in the first place.
Ødegaard will be the final nail in the coffin because of Arteta's stubbornness.

He's fine as a captain and more than fine as a player. And will likely have a big season.
I wish you are right, I really do. However I am not so optimistic as you. I do hope Ødegaard silents all the "haters". I only want the best for my club and I just don't see it with him currently.

Declan Rice carried the team for the last 3-4 months of the season with Ødegaard playing(and underperforming) you goofball. He stepped up and lead with his performances while Ødegaard spun around like an idiot and misplaced basic passes.

You also don't seem to understand that Rice and Ødegaard both playing as "8s" doesn't mean that they have the same exact responsibilities. I'm quite sure you would agree that if someone was moaning that Ødegaard doesn't win duels at the rate Rice does because "they're both 8's" that person would look pretty stupid like you do expecting that Rice should be creating chances like the more advanced 8 does.

This is why it's so funny when you pretend to understand football because you don't even have the most basic understanding of what our players are supposed to be doing. You understand that we play an asymmetrical 433 where the roles on either side of the formation are not uniform, right? The LB and RB have different responsibilities despite both being fullbacks. Saliba and Gabriel actually have different responsibilities, particularly when we're in possession despite both being CBs.

The only reason a person would try to make a 1 to 1 comparison of 2 players who play the same position but very clearly have different roles is if they only had a very surface level understanding of football and couldn't recognize the distinction and that of course is the case with you. You don't like Rice, you've moaned about the transfer fee since we signed him and at every opportunity you ***** and moan about him whether there's a tangible reason to or not. It's agenda driven nonsense and you know that. You're just @Riou without the charm.

He needs to improve over last season but we've already seen how good he can be. Nearly a record amount of goals from midfield one season and our POTS another (if I'm remembering correctly). He just needs to get back to that.

That said, if he does struggle again this year I can see him being moved on sooner rather than later if Nwaneri continue to develop as we all hope.

Alexis Mac Allister:

"When De Zerbi came in as our manager that next season, a few months before the World Cup, it changed everything for me. The main thing that he helped me improve was my scanning of the field - my "profiling" of the situation. Taking little mental pictures of the chess board every two seconds. We looked at Ødegaard as an example of this. For me, he's one of the best in the world at scanning. His head never stops moving. De Zerbi gave me this gift, and it really elevated my game."

And that sums it up. Your idea of improvement is Nwaneri. Not go into the market and buy the best player in that position
