Im actually really positive about this guy returning. The world cup is most i have seen him play in a while. Having saka fit, a midfield of rice and Bruno with him will be huge, I think we will see the star quality come back.

I think he had a very strong World Cup, he looked properly fit again. Not surprising as I think he saved himself last season to be properly fit for the tournament.

Little hints that he might be able to hit his previous heights. The crucial bit is at least now we have other options in the likes of Eze, Nwaneri and perhaps even Bruno so less pressure on him. Ødegaard on top form is world class. Ode in a slump is absolutely useless. If we get the former we will be eating good this season.

Never once sold my stocks in our captain. He's been lukewarm for a while but between the World Cup and pre-season, he's got the bit between his teeth again. Backing him to have a really productive season. Can't wait to see him in full flow.

Looked much better yesterday and hit had nothing to do with anything physical. His intent on the ball was right. He was looking to be more vertical and incisive in his passing, not dropping needlessly in the build up phase and releasing the ball without overthinking. That's the guy we need who takes us up a level and it's 100% down to his mentality. Maybe the World Cup did him some good and reset something.

Started off the game well, kind fizzled out at end of first half, then took off to another level in the second half. Insane player when he's in flow state, just completely takes over the game in ways only players like Silva, Iniesta, Pedri (at his best) can. He's a dying breed of a player and I hope he's back to his best because he makes watching this team a privilege when he's truly on

I think some of the flak he caught last season was a little OTT.

He might not have been at his very best last year, but he had been struggling with injury previously, and I believe he actually did miss quite a bit of last season too.

He's looking like he's getting back to his best, and I agree with MikelHadADream; I think so long as he stays fit this could be a massive season from him (which in turn greatly increases the chance we can retain the PL title).

There’s no point of praising every good game because the level we want him back at is very, very high. The odd good perfomance is no indication he’s truly back, that’s how good he used to be.

Yeah but this wasnt just a good game, he was exceptional today, especially the second half. A good game to me is like what Kai or Tzolis had. MLS and Ødegaard were at a different level. They played a team most people suggested were our closest rivals off the pitch.

I'd even say that we shouldn't expect a player to be this good every single game.

Ødegaard even in the last couple years has always had a few exceptional games in him per season, he’s that talented.

I’m hoping he does get back to that level, but I’ve been on A-M a long time now. Football consistently finds a way to humble anyone who makes definitive statements halfway through a season let alone in the early stages.
