Are you reading properly or what? I literally started with it is a breakdown of individual ability. I'm providing an explanation for why I think he's struggling and you're confusing that with me absolving him of responsibility which is a deduction failure on your part.

Don't assume if you quote someone, you're debating or in disagreement with them. I'm not disagreeing with you that it's an individual failure, I think it's happening due to broader team related issues and it's an Ødegaard only problem that he needs to solve.
You seem to be absolving yourself of the responsibility to articulate yourself clearly. Don't assume that if you make a post with the whiff of excuse making, the person reading it is going to also read your mind and infer what you actually meant.

You did in fact start off with saying it's a breakdown of individual ability which you then attributed to a shift from the robotic nature of modern systems blah blah blah. This is twice now that you've indirectly attributed this man's individual problems to modern football so whether you mean to make excuses or not, it certainly seems like you're making excuses. If we agree then cool but I can only engage with how your post reads and if that's different to what you intend then that's not on me.

I think this is fair. The players around Ødegaard have largely done their jobs - Rice started a bit slow but has been his usual excellent self for months now, Partey is having a good season, Saka was on fire until injury, Nwaneri has been excellent since coming in and Havertz - for all of his flaws - was producing to the level he was last season for the most part.

Ødegaard is the guy who has clearly slipped. I think he's an unreal player at his best but some of the stuff he's doing in recent months is just bordering on being sad to watch, he looks completely bereft of that spark that makes him special.
Fatigue. Guy runs all games times that by 50 matches and coming back from injury. With Nwaneri we can actually rest him a bit. No doubt he'll be back to his best.

There's a very clear distinction between an explanation and an excuse. Some things are inherently understood such as a grown ass man being responsible for his own failures, stating that the organisation is also contributing in some way doesn't take away from that. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Anyway having thought about this more I think Rice at 6 with Ødegaard as more of a b2b at left 8 with Nwaneri as a more attacking right 8 is something I’d like to see.

Ødegaard can do the b2b role - he’s actually well equipped for it, phenomenal engine, tempo controller, good off the ball etc.

As for Ethan as an attacking r8 - bruh can you imagine him AND Saka double teaming on that side. Like who are the opps gonna try double team it’s gonna be carnage.
Next season’s midfield combinations are going to be sexy I can’t lie, depending on if Zubi comes in and is a starting quality controller.

The only shame is I’ve glimpsed the potential of Rice at no8 and it’s been exciting, would be a shame to stick him back at 6 because he’s actually progressed in ways I never thought he would as an 8.

Agree with Ode probably better suited to an 8 role than the 10 he’s playing. It’s weird as nobody has him down as a natural finisher from midfield yet he tied the PL midfielder open play goals record. Do we give up on that goalscoring potential at this point? I lean towards yes.

Been thinking the same, ever since I realised Ødegaard isnt really a #10 anymore.

Wanted a proper 10 to come in, someone crazy like Wirtz, but I think Nwaneri can fulfil that role for us next season. I just want to see us invest in a back up or actually use Fabio Vieira in the compeition/rotation role.

So do Zubimendi, Nypan, Vieira/Alex Baena, keep Salah-Eddine and then you set up like this below next season. And you spending what, 80-90m?

-----------------Nwaneri/Vieira
-------------------------Ødegaard/Salah-Eddine/Nypan
-----------------Rice/Zubimendi/Lewis-Skelly

You can build both a 1-2 or 2-1 midfield with that of high quality, and with interchangeable players.

If Im greedy, Im adding a Rice understudy to that, and then going all out on attack.

8 players for 3 positions is massively overkill.

I really don’t like more than 2 proper players per position (not including academy grads). There’s not enough game time to go around.

Vieira should be sold. Rice and MLS can both be a b2b option as well as at 6. Ødegaard/Nypaan can both be a 10 option as well as b2b.

And idk if Salah Eddie is good enough to be considered here - I wonder if a loan with a view to sell him is a better option than keeping him, never playing him and tanking his value.

If we go down the 6/8/10 route I think all we need is Zubi + Nypaan (or ideally a more proven option).

As the senior attacking player and captain. His next two performances will be the most important. If he goes in to hiding again then we gotta sell. Simple as.

Bryan Ødegaard looks like he's recycling somebody's blood platelets. I hope it's not the baby's.

I would seriously consider getting this guys replacement in the summer. Top player, but seems like he might not be good enough for a title chasing side.
