I agree with the captain thing, he can’t be captain anymore after this season. He was never a captain type guy even when he was playing amazing football.
Salita should probably be CAP, tho his contact needs to be reviewed before that

It was a poor performance. Just below average at everything including pressing which was his thing two seasons ago. Several players have become a father, the vegan diet shouldn't be a killer and his injury wasn't as bad as those suffered by Saka, White, Califiori or Tomi. There were question marks when he was on loan and my fear is that he's had a couple of Ramsey purple seasons and might not rise again.

Team moved on on him. If he does not catch up, Arteta will quickly find a solution. Either through the market or internal promotion. Anyway next season will be crucial. I expect the team to carry him till the rest of this season and then we will see. All of his excuses will be exhausted. He will get used to his new lifestyle with a baby, his injury last year should have subsided already and he will have a summer pre season to build fitness. Arteta won't hesitate to bin him if he continues like this.
I think we just need to keep him fresh. He's playing too many minutes and isn't at his best fitness. He will always have his soft moments but he can't be this bad lol. He used to atleast get bullied on the ball before losing form in a match this is just different.

He's definitely a captain type in many ways. Not a classic British yell at your opponents type captain, but a lead by example kind of captain. He's the team's metronome offensively and presses like a madman defensively. There were many times in the last two seasons where he was the only one trying to do stuff and inspire the team when everyone had downed tools. He's also shown that he has the grace to give up stuff when necessary - pens, FKs etc. He's the captain of his national team as well.

The narrative around his captaincy was completely different when he was performing.

I’ve always thought he’s not a captain type guy. He leads by example yes but for me that’s still not an optimal captain, that’s a guy who is a leader in the squad in their own way. For me I like more vocal people as captains, like Gabriel or Rice.

I thought it was confirmed the whole vegan thing is a rumour that started here and spread to social media :)

We don't know what he's like in the locker room and the facilities.

You wouldn't know Arteta was this very vocal figure from the pitch, for example, but apparently he was always talking in the locker room, explaining stuff and getting on players.

For me, yelling and getting involved in altercations aren't indicative of a good captain. You do it when it's necessary, but you should ideally have a composed figure. Gabriel is an inspirational type with his effort and loudness, but I don't think he has the composure or the communication ability for it. Rice is a better bet, he does seem like he'd make a great captain.

Yeah, we don't know what he is like off the pitch, maybe he gives very inspirational speeches.

Ødegaard of the last two seasons was one of the best CMs itw...the drop off is really hard to wrap one's head around. I think he deserves some grace and we just write his season off and see how he goes next season.

Its hard to wait until next season. The CL semis wont be played then.

My disappointment was him not stepping up in Saka absence. He has been way worse than that but he does the basics and helps the team out well off the ball.

But we need him to step up mentally right now. He gets into good shooting positions still and he really need to deliver some magic regarding his execution in the final third.

We need him now. All bad form is voided if he finds a way to deliver next 3 games in CL.

My guess is that come end of season, he reveals he has been struggling with some kind of secret injury, possibly having pain killing injections to play.

I needed to take some before replying to this. I had invented new slurs that surely would have got me banned if I ever typed them on this forum's textbox. This gif of this gormless vampire looking **** doing Fortnite dances pissed me off.

Ødegaard at his worst is still better than any version of Kai Havertz in midfield. Havertz in midfield made me hate this beautiful sport.
