CAM has got to be up on Berta’s agenda now.

No way he’s been watching Ødegaard stink the place out and think “ah yes all we need is a striker”.

I wanna see links. And I want them now.

This position alone will tell us a lot about Berta's philosophy and influence. As much as I like Merino, if we go for that type of midfielder in the summer to play in a 4-3-3 we might as well send Berta back to Spain.

How do you go from being one of the best players in the league to what ever this mess of a player he is now? It’s like he’s lost his confidence, ability and aura in the space of 6 months. Sick of seeing him try to get the crowd going tbh, if the want the fans to be loud give them something to be loud about Martin ffs…

There was a reason though. This guy did not fully recover from that injury. Ankle injuries are very tricky. He might need surgery at the end of the season. He doesn't look as agile or shifty as he used to. Don't know if he got sick or changed his diet, cause he has been looking pretty gaunt for a while, also having your first child could have a psychological effect on a person they didn't anticipate. Maybe he finally found his purpose in life, being the best dad ever, **** this football ****.
Do you have some evidence of this that nobody has seen or are you making a ridiculous excuse based on nothing substantial?

How many games has he missed since he came back? Virtually none. So we're supposed to believe that his ankle injury never healed properly, is bad enough that he needs surgery but is not so bad that he has had to miss any time for club or country since he came back because of soreness or instability? Why were his only good performances of the season his first couple of games back from this allegedly unhealed injury? How does that work logically?

Let's say your outlandish hypothesis was right. Does the ankle have an effect on cognition that neither myself nor anyone on the forum nor any medical professional in history has ever heard of? Worse than any physical decline has been his decision making and unless you have some evidence that ligaments in the ankle are responsible for decisions made in the brain, no there is not a damn reason for him being this poor.

When JvP had a worse ankle injury than this and had to go and get horse placenta treatment, he came back exactly the same player as before the injury. When Xhaka had an ankle injury like this, he came back exactly the same player. Ødegaard himself came back exactly the same player until the wheels mysteriously fell off a couple of weeks after he had come back exactly the same player so no, this does not track and it's a nonsensical excuse.

It's so difficult to watch him these days, he’s been bad in so many games this season. Needs to get dropped, he’s too comfortable.

It's a combo of things. Daddy duties, dude is fasting or might be a vegan now and ankle still messed up.

Declan Rice became a father and has improved as a player since then. Declan Rice has been playing with a broken toe for months and has improved as a player, not gone backwards. Football has countless Muslim players who fast during Ramadan and go out and perform. What you're doing is making excuses. Nothing more.

I can tell you right now that a regular person who went from being one of the best employees at their job to one of the worst would not be given the leeway of those excuses so it's actually insane that you would try to do that for someone whose job is playing a children's game at a high level and who has millions in earnings to mitigate the effects of every single excuse you just gave.

It's weird that we have a captain who:

* doesn't do the team talks before games
* barely does an interview
* doesn't perform on the pitch

What exactly is his role?

Everyone is different. Ødegaard is a sensitive soul, needs a lot of support. I'd give him one more season. Same with Arteta. If the team crashes out of the Champions league, Arteta needs to be on the chopping block

So you'll make excuses for Ødegaard that are purely speculative but Arteta should be on the chopping block if he can't get past a fully fit and incredibly talented PSG as a result of a myriad of injuries and his "sensitive" captain ghosting an entire season? Got it.

He is not the first player to come back from an ankle injury nor the first one to be a dad. If any of this is a problem, then the management must surely know - these guys have access to top class physios, psychologists, etc. and they must have either seen it coming or at the very least have now realized what the problem is. It is clearly not working for him and the team, so to just keep playing him is costing the team at the crunch time of the season. I get it that there are no like for like replacement for him at the moment except for maybe an inexperienced Nwaneri, but even that maybe worth a try (at least 20-30 min as a sub?) than to just see him struggle at the detriment of the team.

No ****ing way. We don’t need a sensitive man. We need a technical attacking midfielder with vision and a spine. Why persist with a sensitive soul? Why make a sensitive soul captain? You’re basically saying he doesn’t have a strong mentality. Why persist with that?

I’m done with him. I’d love to be proven wrong. But I hate that he’s still starting games and being useless every freaking time. He needs to be dropped. I’d much rather see Nwaneri figuring things out than Ødegaard stinking up the pitch. His form has completely dropped off a cliff all season now. Imagine where we’d be if he was the Ødegaard of last season or even atleast as good as Merino. He’s crap and I don’t see any reason to persist with a crap player at the most important position at Arsenal.

A poor man's Özil. Both technically gifted, but seemingly without top mentality to consistently fight and win.

He has never been anywhere near Özil technically or even Football IQ. But he works hard and is integral to our press. I don't even think he's a 10 . Never senses space and misses a lot off the ball runs great playmakers spot. Also doesn't like receiving the ball in traffic. I don't think he should be sold but we need someone else in his position .

We should seriously integrate in this boy gradually to replace him next season. Yamal and Messi kind of talent and maturity
