Adams saying Arteta isn't a winner = a superb last ditch tackle to stop someone scoring.

Tony also saying how Ode needs the armband taken off him = skinning the whole opposing team.

But saying give it to Rice and not Gabriel is your shot at the end of it being like...

...still love you though Big Tone 💪

The captain being the quiet lead-by-example type isn't a problem. The captain neither being vocal nor leading by example is a problem though.
Your captain can't be constantly one of the worst performing players. Drags the entire team down.

Thing is, if you take away the armband now you'd put his poor performances even more into the spotlight. The media would be all over it. Could he handle that? Could be the beginning of the end for him.

Fair enough he thinks it about cap and coach but to say it is no way a former captain should behave.
He just looks high on the attention like he is drunk and cant keep his mouth shut
Kinda pathetic and no way a leader and legend should behave

Most of what Tony said didn't even make sense but he's right Rice is more typical captain material than Ødegaard. A few seasons ago though, Ødegaard was the example because he just turned up to the club and was contributing more than we expected, available every game and running non stop.

At the end of the day, an armband is symbolic. If Rice wants to pick the team up, he doesn't need an armband to do that. I think its an archaic english football trope. Odegaards form is the actual issue.

I agree 100 per cent with Tone i personally never saw Ode as captain material, fine player however but i find him lacking in leadership he's no Vieira either.

Tony might be right but we don't know how our players view Ødegaard and it seem they all respect him and he well liked also you don't need armband to act like captain Rice and Gabriel always motivate and give instructions during games.

Exactly. Traitorous behaviour. Say it in private if you really think that, but embarrassing us in front of the world is unforgivable in my opinion. Shameful.

If I had to choose someone to be captain it would be Big Gabi, not Rice. Why do people think Rice is a natural leader- because he is the type that needs to be liked by everyone? And/Or is it because he is English?

Ultimately, If Ødegaard has another year like last year, he shouldn't be captain and he should be on the bench. However, if he returns to the form of 22/23 & 23/24, he's a nailed on starter and captain.

People have forgotten how good he was 90% of those two seasons, because last year was so poor beyond a handful of strong performances.

At present he is still playing too slowly, second guessing himself and not taking enough final action responsibility. He needs to bang a couple in the top corner so he can feel himself again. That said, the more direct play we've seen at times in pre-season, and the signing of Zubi, should both help him.

Tony was a legend for us and a genuinely top class defender so he gets plenty of leeway from me. He should be treated like the uncle who is always drunk and makes dumb remarks at dinners but you love him anyway.
Nah. Wish I hadn't voted for him when he was embarrassing himself on Strictly now

Captain or not, he better be fired up and back to his best come Sunday.
The club have put all eggs in Ødegaard basket again.
