It absolutely does matter who leads a team on the pitch. Creativity means f*ck all with regards to leadership. Was Patrick Vieira creative? What about Roy Keane?
Vieira was a creative technical player, he was a lot more than a passion merchant hard tackler. Rice needs to improve in other areas he shouts and points enough as it is.

Jordan Henderson was about as average a footballer as you can be, not creative in the slightest yet for the entire time he was at Liverpool under Klopp, the team was only ever really at 100% with him out there leading them.
Liverpool were doing f all with Henderson as captain until they got the likes of Salah, Mane, Van Dijk, Allison and Fabinho. Henderson was just a passenger to better players.

There are/were much better options as captain, but I don't think it's a pressing issue. Were it not for his abysmal form we would leave it alone.

Adams is entitled to his opinion anyways, there are fewer credentials more qualified than his to tell it like it is.

You also don't seem to understand that Rice and Ødegaard both playing as "8s" doesn't mean that they have the same exact responsibilities. I'm quite sure you would agree that if someone was moaning that Ødegaard doesn't win duels at the rate Rice does because "they're both 8's" that person would look pretty stupid like you do expecting that Rice should be creating chances like the more advanced 8 does.
Both midfielders are required to win duels and create chances or at least contribute in the final third. Rice’s job isn’t just to tackle otherwise he’d be limited.

These guys are supposed to be complete midfielders that’s how you win big trophies.

I mean Adam’s went to jail as a captain and was lucky drink and driving wasn’t as hardly judged back then as now. Imagine in today’s society a PL captain doing jail time for drink and driving and then continuing as captain

You say that but look how you championed Partey, People overlook anything in football if you are good enough which Adams was, so disagree.

If Ode wasn't so crap his quiet captaincy style wouldn't be scrutinised as it is.

This is who Arteta should take coaching advice from:

Was it really coaching advice though? Or was it criticism of choice of captain from a former captain?

If even Adams can't say what most are thinking then it's all cooked really.

I think we’d end up arguing semantics here but he’s basically advising him on who should be captain.

My only issue is saying Rice should be captain, just makes my eyes roll it’s for such obvious reasons.

Dont think Tony is wrong aboute Ødegaard. For me its not good that he will be captain this season after his performance last season. But at same time its very hard to take the armband from the player who will be starting in his role next season.

I really wanted Eze to come in and compete with Ode. We need competition for Ode Think Eze replaces Ode on last season form easily.

The idea that transferring the armband from one mans arm to other would change our fortunes is mental. Captaincy is symbolic and matters to fans but handing it to someone else doesn't get you past PSG.

Alexis Mac Allister:

"When De Zerbi came in as our manager that next season, a few months before the World Cup, it changed everything for me. The main thing that he helped me improve was my scanning of the field - my "profiling" of the situation. Taking little mental pictures of the chess board every two seconds. We looked at Ødegaard as an example of this. For me, he's one of the best in the world at scanning. His head never stops moving. De Zerbi gave me this gift, and it really elevated my game."

That's very interesting ....

Exactly. There’s this weird anger the style of the team is blamed on Ode and not the manager, coaches and rest of the players. When he’s the biggest victim of the style of the team

Honestly cheaper if we just massage Clostebol into Ode and see what happens.
