Wasn't a putrid performance at all. Actually I think Zubi and Rice were probably worse for large periods. He just didn't have the impact that you would hope for but to be fair, nobody did. There's not a lot to criticize him for today other than not being a talisman but that accusation could be leveled at Saka who usually steps up in this fixture and didn't.

He just never takes the game by the scruff of the neck like he should as someone with his abilities and especially someone who's wearing the armband.
Way too often he's just happy to probe and probe instead of taking a risk and play that final pass. That's how we end up passing the ball around without creating many chances.
I'd rather see him taking risks and lose the ball than just passing sideways all the time hoping someone else makes that final pass.

He should be so much more exciting to watch as a footballer than he is right now.

We need to find ways to challenge these low blocks more and that starts with Ødegaard not playing it safe all the time.

Against a low block we need a different strategy with different personnel.

Ødegaard was poor, but so were most of our side against Liverpool’s strategy. I look to the manager in this case.

I always want Arteta to move Ødegaard on. This guy is just not good enough. Zubimendi or Merino have more impact than him in the final third.
For Zubimendi’s goal, Ødegaard would pass back to Saka instead of passing to Gyökeres like Merino did. I’m 100% sure of that.

I still hope and feel there's more to come from him on a week to week basis. His floor in the last few performances is much higher than it has been for the past year and change.

I don't think he's had a bad game in the last few matches and a couple of them he's been great in. I like that his shot seems to be returning a bit and at least testing the keeper if not finding the back of the net and I've seen some better aggression in possession. He's still not quite the guy we know he can be but he's headed in the right direction. The next step would be him figuring out a way to work better with Gyok and chipping in with a couple more goals.

Merino may be more effective in our system given that Zubi can make the same plays as Ødegaard and defend. Arteta is seeing this.
True... I want to see that midfield pairing again. I think Zubi is proving to be a real asset in the final third too.

People tends to go over the top when criticizing him and Exaggerate some thing but he was terrible yesterday, he needs to fix up asap, we have a treble to win

100%, an aggressive Ødegaard is the best Ødegaard.

Allowing Ødegaard to have so many touches on the ball slows our team down. He earns the touches, by moving all of the time, but in the end it doesn’t add up to much that is productive.

If you just want to control the tempo, it’s fine, but if you need to make something happen, it’s not.

We should try alternative ways of attacking with alternative personnel. We need options.
