I told you so
Ode can be a poor fit for the starting AM role at Arsenal while being a great fit for a role at Madrid.

In fact there’s currently a player who wasn’t good enough for Arsenal that’s now a squaddie at Madrid, I think they may have even extended his contract at some point as k feel like he’s been there a while.

Point is, fans have gone overboard with Ødegaard, like he's to blame for everything. I'm not saying you, but fans have really been on his back for a long time now, whether its performances, injuries, the captaincy, its been over the top. With this in mind, Its just funny to see names like Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern on here.

We can move past players, but I think certain players deserve more respect from the fanbase, and he is one of them.

Ødegaard cannot be judged if he has to play alongside Rice. Rice cant pass quickly to him and gallops around. So both Zubi and Ode have to cover for his deficiencies. Then you have Saka on the right who demands the ball and gets boxed in. So all Ode does is go and collect the ball and then go and give it to saka. Then he has to press insanely non stop. Dont wanna diss an individual when the midfield and attack are dysfunctional. The manager has to sort it out.

There’s still a very good player in there, he’s just being weird atm.

It might even just be a poor league fit as others have said (although that doesn’t really explain why he was so good from 22-24).
Recurring injuries have hindered his explosiveness, and we no longer play to his strengths. When was the last time we tried to play cutbacks to him?

Was Rudiger divisive? Thought he was Chelseas best defender at that point? I agree, that Ødegaard could do a job for one of them, just found it funny that you of all people suggested it.
Chelsea fans criticised Rudiger for his rashness and bozo moments. I don't recall Chelsea fans losing sleep when Rudiger joined Madrid, but I could be wrong.

I don't think I'm that super anti-Ødegaard. I've defended him multiple times at length. My issue with him is that he is a no. 8 playing as a no. 10, and it is hurting us. He's emblematic of why we lack centrality in our attacking structure and the infamous “horseshoe of death” nomenclature keeps rearing its head. Despite all of that, I know the quality that this guy possesses. He'd be a massive boost for several big clubs around the world, including the big two in Spain.

I kind of agree but I also think respect is earned not given.

It wasn’t always like this with Ode. A few months into what turned out to be his first down season he had so much respect that people assumed he was off form or tired of just getting off to a slow start. Fast forward now and it’s been two years without him being able to put together a meaningful stretch all whilst as captain.

the fact that despite this, we all acknowledge that he could move to a top top club demonstrates that he is respected. He’s just not hitting the high standards that he set for himself, the high standards required from the captain.

Is it really overboard to say that he should be dropped for Kai? I genuinely think he’s lucky that Eze is having his adaption issues, Kai is coming off an injury and Ethan was loaned out because on current form he’d be glued to the bench.

Its not overboard to say he should be dropped for Kai, no. But everything Ødegaard does is under a microscope. For example, he messes up a transition and you'll see clip after clip. If its say Eze or Rice, you won't hear a word. Even saw people take fire at Ødegaard for the Brentford goal, yes, while he wasn't faultless, it wasn't a mistake akin to Eze at Villa. This happened so quickly, sometimes a goal is just a goal.

People say he drops deep to pick up the ball, but when Eze does it, nothing. People seem to have it out for him at the moment. I get it, but be mad at the club for not signing better quality with a 300m spend.

He's regressed, no doubt, but lets be honest, which attacker hasn't under Arteta?

He's our captain and two-time POTS winner. Expectations for him are going to be higher than most. This season should've been the comeback tour after last year's woes, but it appears he is continuing towards that downward spiral.

I fully believe if he was fully healthy and fit he wouldve returned back close to his best, but this start-stop bullshit going on with him recently has to be fixed. He's been looking like he's afraid of going anywhere near a 50/50 for some time and his last couple of spells out have confirmed why. His body has become incredibly fragile over the past 2 seasons

Speculation about him leaving the club and if he is right for the captaincy seem far outside of the primary concerns of performance, fitness, and team balance.

We just need him at his best so Arteta has options and can make the right situational decisions.

I miss the football we used to play with this lad, Saka out on the right, and Kai up top. Miss it so much. The best football we played in the Arteta era, and I wont let anyone gaslight me into believing our best team doesnt include those 3 in it.

Arsenal Quotes

Everybody knows how much I love Arsenal - I became a fan. And to be out here [in front of the Emirates as a statue] celebrating a goal against Sp*rs, there's not much else to say after that. Like I've said before: Once a Gooner, always a Gooner.
