I think it was disappointing how few times he managed to get towards the box and get a shot on target. Not his best day, but that can be said about a lot of our players.

Not our day, and Lens did well.

The game also highlights Ode’s deficiencies as a playmaker. He isn't a chance creating machine but he goes missing also

Surprising thing about Ødegaard is we’ve got more of a goalscorer than a creator. He’s got passes in him, but often his final ball isn’t as precise as you’d expect. Ironically he’s turned into more of a Ramsey (goals, hard work, press) than a Cesc or Özil, albeit with more quality than Ramsey.

Yeah he’s not as creative as made out, but I don’t know if that’s him or just a symptom of modern football that he isn’t quite the same chance creation machine as Özil or Cesc.

I’m more inclined to believe it’s more the way modern football is than him.

He has been finding it difficult ever since paired with Havertz, as Lens copied Spuds tactics of letting Havertz free and fully focusing on man marking him.

Nope, he just has games like this I’m afraid. Not the first, won’t be the last.

Ødegaard’s issue is he doesn’t face PSV every week.

Guy goes one (1) game without scoring and the knives are out.

Should dye his hair to get some love on here.
I think it’s more how he sometimes goes missing? I don’t think he had as horrendous a game vs Sp**s as being made out but yesterday he was in complete hiding. And that’s a game where we really needed a captain.

He's the key to how Arteta wants to play. Im actually terrified of him getting hurt because that will truly end our season.
100% agree with all of this

That's unfair, he was so much better last season next to De Bruyne on key passes, goals, and assists.

Even big names like Bergkamp and Henry struggled in some games so I don't expect Ode to be at his best every single game, but he needs to get back to his last season level. Just a question if it's something with him or the new roster we have

Nope I think blaming the roster is unfair because this is nothing new with Ødegaard even last season.

Doesn’t mean he’s not boaderline world class but it is what what it is with him. Almost every other game he’s peripheral.

What was the issue with him last season? The guy was top 3 midfielders in the PL. Why do you want to point out some bad games when on average he was fantastic and was the key to our success?

This is like Cazorla all over again, all you guys remember is a few shocking games from him and just somehow forget all the amazing stuff they did. As I'm saying, unfair

And for the roster, I do feel like we don't have the right balance, mostly on the left wing and LCM. It's a complete mismatch of skills of what we need and what we have for the style of football we try to play

Nah you guys too willingly blame others around him when Ødegaard who is to be quite frank a kitten sometimes. We saw the best of him against PSV where they let him play as they were too concerned about their own attacking patterns.

We started Eddie and Havertz then too, didn’t hamper him then but like I say when his pattern emerges it’s suddenly other players problem.

It’s his.

There was no threat in behind yesterday, easy for Lens to defend against us.

We need at least one outlet playing at all times. Obviously Gabi is by far and away our best option, so we struggle when he’s not about.

Next best bet is Eddie.

Trossard, Jesus and Saka is too slow. They all want it to feet.

it's a team game, if all of our creativity is based on him, then obviously some teams will be able to abuse it and some won't (PSV).

That's what I'm trying to say, there's not enough balance and probably the main reason why I want Trossard as an 8 and be less reliant on Ødegaard. If you have a donkey like Havertz just running around doing some basics then obviously it's all on Ode to make something happen and thats too easy to defend against . I'm not an expert though and Arteta is but I feel he is putting more pressure on Ode with his roster

Hit put his hands out wanting the ball threw the lines
But he rarely got the ball . The players behind him need to be more brave on the ball. Need Partey back in the lineup

What is so difficult for people to understand, Ødegaard simply struggles vs any team that employs an aggressive High Press and are really physical.

No dynamism in his play, ridiculous angle bias which hinders him from overlapping/underlapping as he is one footed.

Not really a chance creator and requires Saka to open up space for him.

Our highest earner.

I have no hope for him vs Sevilla another physical/aggressive pressing team.

Every single attacking midfielder has games like this. KDB has had plenty of games like this and Bruno has games like this every 2nd day(Don`t even get me started on Maddison from this perspective).

Because AM watches Ode every time every single action of his gets analyzed too much by some people. Yesterday for example, every single attacking player was not great and Ode was actually very good at keeping the ball in our own half. It has nothing to do with PSV because he has played very well in many big games.
