So there is drama brewing, IMO. Zubimendi combines very well with M2. M2 also is deceptively intelligent and technical, though doesn't appear as powerful as Rice. I think M2 takes the 8 from Rice, I also think, that Tetta sees it coming, considering his reminding of the media of the Ramsdale/Raya saga. Either way it's a win win for Arsenal having two different 8s like M2 and Rice.
There was definite chemistry. Maybe that's why it's such a feel-good interviewShe wants the Zee
Never gonna happen. Merino is too slow to ever become top player for usSo there is drama brewing, IMO. Zubimendi combines very well with M2. Being a Spanish midfielder is enough tbh, I’d take Merino and Zubimendi over any English midfielder.Yeah as soon as he came on at half time in the Euros final and completely dominated England it should’ve been clear he was silly quality.
The only thing Rice does better is tackling and running, other than that Merino is better.Rice is 10 times the player of Merino, let’s done do this![]()
Direct free kicks? Set piece deliveries? That's at least another two.The only thing Rice does better is tackling and running, other than that Merino is better.
Let’s not turn the Zubimendi thread into a Rice vs Merino topic.Direct free kicks? Set piece deliveries? That's at least another two.
On a serious note, Rice and Merino are completely different players even if we try to play them in same position. There are some things Rice excels in that Merino is weak at and vice versa. Imo overall Rice is overall the much better player. The roles we ask them to play there is no doubt in some games (probably against the extreme low block) Merino is the better fit. Much the better player in tight spaces.
We don't have to put them against each other, the beauty of needing a big squad with a lot of quality is that when the game requires a specific skill set we can rotate players.
His mobility is fine but if you argue against narratives you get called contrarian so it’s pointless.Let's be fair Rice is at a different level to Merino generally and that's no slight on Merino, he's a good player generally, very good on his day. A swiss army knife squad player.
What holds him back from being in the bracket of the top players is his lack of mobility.
Relax guys, Rice Ji Sung can still be used for big away games.
I wouldn't mind seeing:
Zubi
Rice Merino/Havertz
in some games. As long as both Rice and Merino/Kai are allowed to go forward, with Cala/Timber supporting. Not all matches suits a nr 10 like Ode/Nwaneri, some times we need more power in and around the box.
I mean today should have been his most comfortable game against very familiar opposition but yes, he's already been very good and appears to be growing into his role by the match.Game by game he’s improving. Feeling his way into the team. Today he was dictating like I’d hoped he would. He’s also a master of the dark arts which I’m a huge fan of.
Happy with him so far but much more to come.
