I think in home games we really don't need a double defensive pivot like this. Single pivot and 2 number 8s is the way to go.

Get rid of Nørgaard and then sign another playmaker next year

a midfield of

Zubimendi - Ødegaard - Eze

or

Rice - Eze - Ødegaard

would work both ways aswell. Plus ofc Zubi - Rice - Ødegaard

Zubimendi been off the boil of late but much better performance from him against Everton. Zubimendi and and Rice bossed their midfield.

Arteta has never really been able to make this system work. Any time he tries it the balance is off.

They were both much better, but I thought Rice stuck out like a sore thumb when he had the ball in advanced positions.

Nothing new there really, he just doesn't have those attacking/creative instincts. I feel we need to consider the balance/makeup of the 6 and 8 roles next season.

Certainly need to sign another world class player there.

Underrated performance imo. Thought he was one of our best performers in the first half when we were looking super fluid. Seems to have nice chemistry with Kai as well.

I think he needs himself an attacking version of Rice to make it work. A B2B guy with some attacking flair. Dortmund Jude or even current Enzo would be great for him but I'm not sure if there's room in the squad now.

Alternatively he could just try and figure it out with the players or think outside the box. A more technically secure front-line puts less pressure on the midfield defensively which could allow us to shift to this system. Something like that anyway.

Yep.

If we can bring a world class midfielder to this team, we are in for a good ride in the years to come. Our biggest lack of threat offensively comes from there due to lack of direct play and chance creation, relying on one good chance per match will never get you over, and we need somebody who can enable our attackers more directly from the midfield.

None of our players is capable of doing that, they are all in their comfort zones most of the time.

Bringing in Tonali or another CM should be a priority in the summer.

Both Rice and Zubi are showing some signs of fatigue now.

Nørgaard is fine as a guy you bring on for 15-20 minutes in the PL to see off a game or play the domestic cup competitions, an Elneny type 4th CM but I don't think he's of the level to be a genuine rotation option with Rice / Zubi in meaningful matches.

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
Best game from him in like two months he was everywhere and take more risk.

Need Spain to not over use him in international break.
