I think this mainly shows Partey plays for a more attacking more possession team than anything else
But then shouldn't he have better defensive stats? Fair enough on the attacking stats but surprising that Partey makes more tackles, wins more duels and wins possession back more often. You would think Zubi spends more time defending so those stats should favour him. Biggest surprise is the passing accuracy. We all know Partey can easily lose concentration and give the ball away while I have heard more than once that Zubi hardly ever gives away possession. I guess perception can be so different from reality.

Anyway I'm not against Zubi, on the contrary I'm glad we got him and think he will be really good for us. We really need a player like him in our team. Just making the point Partey has been really good last year and it would be better for us (football wise) if we kept him so at least we have a capable back up or in worst case scenario if Zubi needs time to adapt. We really can't afford to be relying on MLS to straight away play the 6 role to elite levels.

You don't necessarily tackle more when you defend. Look at our team dropping in to the bus, they generally look to cover. Covering can be better defensively than tackling.

Passing accuracy isn't a surprise, Partey gets to pass back and forth between the CBs, fullbacks and keepers countless times per game stat padding his passing accuracy

Also the stats ignore the fact that Zubi is more an interception guy and someone who pounces on the loose ball.

Having said all that Partey has been good this year, but stats mean nothing to a midfielder. Stats never made Modric look head and shoulders above his peers

Nah, you're way off. Partey has the occasional howler, but usually he mops up the midfield really well and keeps us in possession.

Zubimendi isn't the same profile as Partey since he's coming in for Jorginho, who was never the best when it came to defensive duties.
Judging Zubimendi's defensive strengths on Jorginho's shortcomings is just wild.

He is not super quick at all. He de does however seem to still be able to get up to impressive speed on a few occacions. Only seems to do it a few times each season. Very strange.

Yeah he doesn't do it very often lol

We took 6 months to get this deal done and people here think this club will sign CF in space of days 💀.

Well at least this one is done but the announcement will be early July

Arsenal Quotes

Ian Wright was the incredible striker for whom those around him sometimes found hard to control especially the opponents. He was an extrovert, hyperactive, and had endured an extremely hard life. His playing style was instinctive, and he had that killer instinct, a player like no other.
