100% correct.
All players in La Liga have release clause (RC).
This is how Arsenal bought Partey.
They gave money to Partey's agent, he went to La Liga headquarters in Madrid and he paid Partey's RC.
It is common practice and I'm sure that Zubimendi knows about it.
He probably told Liverpool that he doesn't want to leave Sociedad without Sociedad's permission.

I sometimes think people watch different games to me. Anytime I've watched him he does what you say. I think he releases quicker then Partey in my eyes, but maybe that's just me.
