🤔🤔🤔 I want to believe 🤔🤔🤔

zubimendi defense skills really poor imo, imagine bruno G vs zubimendi at emirates and st james park
He won't be our main holding midfielder in physical games. I suspect we will sign Partey for another year and Zubi will directly replace Jorginho to help us keep possession as our "distributor".

Are we getting a discount for this 4-0 beating Sociedad is getting? I'm not even sure this bloke is worth 60 mil, tbh.

Doesn't seem to stand out from a defensive pov, nor does he create any attacks from deep.
He playing with team that sit 12th and they having very poor season but he very good player you won't be wanted by Arsenal Liverpool's Munich and Madrid if you mid.

very happy with the zubemendi transfer. he's going to help us a lot in the games we are expected to dominate and have a lot of the ball. he's not flashy and i get that he isn't a very exciting signing on paper. but he is going to help us a lot in possession. we lost too many points this season after taking the lead. zubemendi helps us with dictating the pace of the game with his composure and passing.

He's nothing like Merino, you can see he's press resistant when the likes of Real and Barce don't press him because he drives forward easily.
Maybe so. In all of his highlight he has space and time, so Its hard to determine how he will be in the PL.

Lets hope his impressive anticipation skills keeps him out of trouble. If so, it should be a good signing.

We’ve been soundly beaten by Newcastle with a midfield of rice and Partey who are apparently physical and defensive monsters.

Isn’t it time we try something different?

Ironically, the last time we totally beat and dominated Newcastle, we had Jorginho starting for us that day

bruno G did not pair with tonali at that time when we beat 4-1 at emirates last season, newcastle midfielder more stronger right now

and yeah i agree we lose against newcastle this season with rice and partey but still imo zubimendi not upgrade from partey

At current performance levels, anyone is an upgrade on Partey.
He has physically decline and he doesn’t even play line breaking passes anymore.

And he’s aparently 31 so he’s getting worse

nah not true, he is one of best our player this season, yes he made mistake but not often like saliba, even partey this season better than saliba , so he is not getting worse

For me the problem is Ødegaard, you need someone who's a bit more incisive in what he does. Zubimendi keeps things ticking which takes away the only good Ødegaard does on the ball these days which is recycling possession. Now that the dynamics have changed you want someone with a killer final ball, someone who'll shoot or even just someone who'll pick the ball and run with it, or even run beyond the CF.
This is why I really want to go for Cunha. He will do that on the left 8 and Rice can finally be on the right where he prefers.

Partey is cooked. Was awful in Paris.
Partey is physically done. He’s been lacking the physicality required for that role for quite some time now.

He will be on the bench for most of next season. I hope we mold MLS into that role. He’s excellent in tight spaces, has vision, and can drive if needed.

We looked a lot better in Paris than we did when he wasn't playing in the first leg.

People been saying this for years just for him to be starting again the next season lol, can you not see he's one of Arteta's favourite players?

I don't really see the point in keeping Partey and signing Zubimendi, not like we actually need a Jorginho replacement he barely played.

Jorginho has played 1500 mins this season which is a fair amount.

I think the clever thing to do is extend Partey, otherwise you're relying on Zubimendi hitting the ground running AND staying fit all season.

Most of those minutes being things like cup games, CL games after we qualified and bit part minutes at the end of the game. I don't think that requires a big transfer to replace.

If Arteta has Partey he's gonna play him whenever Thomas is fit, I'm not sure where Zubimendi fits here if Partey stays.

Before the other option was Jorginho who can barely play once a week let alone every three days. We were forced into playing TP5 so regularly. However, now that’s going to change.

For example if we do get rid of both and Zubimendi gets injured, you're then back to Rice being the 6, Merino the L8 and Ødegaard R8, which doesn't function very well.

I think it's a huge problem if we get rid of Partey (unless he's also replaced of course)

Yellow box aside, I do have 1 concern with keeping Partey and him taking the Jorginho role in the squad, and I was reminded of that Vs Bournemouth the other week.

He is very often a player that actually needs consistent game time and rhythm to be at his best. A lot of the time of he misses games the next time he plays he almost looks drunk. That's not great of he's going to come in and out the side quite often.
