Arsène Wenger obviously keeps a very close eye on Ligue 1 and it is little surprise that he is said to be monitoring developments, even though other clubs have previously been keeping tabs on a player who has scored four times this season.

"I will have one year left on my contract at the end of the season," he said recently. "Since I am tied to the club until 2010.

"For me, the ball is in the club's court. I am ambitious. I want to progress.

"We will consider all this at the end of the season."

Another unknown player? :?

I've watched this guy loads of times. He's a sensational, ball winning midfield powerhouse.

Well, actually no, that's a lie. I haven't watched him loads of times. I've watched him a few times. Well... three times. By three times I really mean twice. And by twice I mean once. Okay, that's a lie too. I've never watched him. Infact, I've never even heard of him.

The story is based on the fact that "Wenger obviously keeps a very close eye on Ligue 1". I think we should stop making threads where some real quotes are nowhere near to be found.

(I miss some huge thread by the way, any chance we can do an Arshavin in the summer? Wembley, that old bastard, has even taken my post from the thread and put it into the "I wish I hadn´t said that" thread in the Lobby, that´s how bad and hilarious it was it seems, hmmmmm!)

Neeeeext please.

After a quick search I found he's 5'7. That's enough to put me off right away. We don't need somebody the size of Arshavin in central midfield looking up to Cesc.

He's decribed as a box to box type with good stamina and good technical skills. Compares himself to Iniesta. I think Wenger has to make some concessions on the technical side for the needed cm if he wants to play Cesc and Theo in a 4 man midfield.

You mean a tough midget? Size doesn't bother me as much as others. Big and good might very well be better, but small and good is fine too.

Strikes me as a very tenuous link really - some journo probably just dropped our name into a conversation, and here we are...

Arsenal Quotes

In 1997/98 we became English champions as I had set myself three missions to carry out which I felt were essential. One: to have an impact on the result and the team's playing style. Two: to foster the player's individual development. Three: to strengthen the structure of the club and enhance its global influence.
