Thought he looked really good. A ton of action in his cameo. Love that about his game, it’s not just nice touches and dribbles, he genuinely threatens. Hope he continues to get cameos like this.

Literally when he gets into the box it is so hard to stop him, his feet is so fast any tackles will catch his leg before the ball

Ronaldinho did the same for Messi for his first goal when he kept trying to set him up. Dowman is an extraordinary talent and the players know it. He’s also 15 years old and they know what a goal would mean to him plus the game was already won.

Yep, this is the thing with Arteta, he doesn't give pity or feel good minutes he obviously felt Dowman deserved those minutes on merit. You treat him as such as a teammate.

Zubi and Rice were looking for him a lot out on the right, and I've no issue with that as you want him to get some touches and find his feet on his debut. When it comes to goal scoring chances though you should play properly and Rice didn't in that situation.

I’m glad he didn’t take the penalty. If he’d missed or keeper saved, it might’ve hung heavy on him. A chance to be youngest top division scorer ever, missed. He may still do that anyway, but let him do it from open play.

Arteta is spot on with his mentality. Kid knows what he can do and backs himself without hesitation. Which is often the difference at this level. I notice when our players are asked about him while being interviewed, they keep it simple and quickly change the subject whenever they can. See Timber's MOTM interview yesterday. That is obviously the right thing to do considering the stage he is at, but also to me a massive sign that they know he is the truth.

Yep the people wanting Max to take it are going way over the top tbh.

He had a great debut, 30 minutes is way more than any of us would have expected him to play beforehand. He did really well and won a penalty.

But Gyokeres is a big summer signing and he's here to score goals, that's what he'll be judged by and he needs to get off to a decent goal scoring start.

Quality is everything. There were people here who kept pretending otherwise but its common in every sport. If you are good enough you are old enough.

Max Verstappen couldn't even get a road license yet when he made his debut at 15 year old in racing

We were playing cross field diagnols to Saka all game, so it’s a clear tactic to switch the play and get the ball early to the winger to create 1 vs 1. Dowman became the beneficiary of the switches as well.

Other than maybe the Rice moment - there was nothing unusual that doesn’t happen with any other player there on the right.
