Max Dowman: Mad Max

He’s definitely generational talent. Doesn’t mean he will fulfil it. With every young talent you worry about injuries and women. If he can avoid both he will go far.
Absolutely.
But going off pure talent this kid is sensational, he glides across the pitch like Messi and he’s got the physicality to back it up, it’s hard to believe he’s 16.

Ok, who has watched the Max Dowman goal at least 10 times? 🙋‍♂️🤣

I love the way he headed it forward at speed to get past first player, then that lovely left right to get past 2nd player and knock it ahead. Just 2 touches after that. He made it look easy, it wasn’t.

I'm hearing talk online about Max going to the WC.

Let's them him bed in here for 12-18 months.

16 year olds shouldn't be playing under the pressure of a WC, irrespective of talent.
That’s not true, if you’re good enough you’re old enough. You get 16 years olds in Grand Slam tennis events, you got a 14 year old playing top level cricket.

I would say your take is pretty backward. Under the right management and environment there is no reason why he can’t go and play a limited role.

Don't know what women have to do with anything. He's 16 first of all. And ...... the Ronaldo(s) say hello.

It's sacrilegious to be bringing those names into this thread imo but it's usually substance abuse and injury combo that derails talents more.

Sometimes I wonder if you just say the lowest common denominator thing just to remain in character.

It is never about age. That's old age thinking. Pretty sure you will see 16 year old Gilberto Mora play for Mexico there

That’s Mexico, this is England. Different kettle of fish pressure and expectations wise.

We don’t want Dowman going to the World Cup he should be focused on breaking into the club team first.
Of course we don't want it to happen, but if he starts more games towards the end of the season and Tuchel calls him up it's understandable too.

Btw, playing for Mexico in front of their home crowd in the world cup is huge pressure

I can remember Cesc was at an amazing level but Max just seem to be top top level.
Long way to go before we compare him to Cesc. He was a starter at 16, running games against Madrid in the Bernbeau at 17. He was the player of the tournament for the youth world cup too.

Remember Nwanari had a terrific start last season scored quite a number of goals until Arteta stopped playing him.

In saying that Max is clearly going to be a world class talent. But let's not get ahead of ourselves and let him grow at his own organic pace and manage our expectations of him. His contribution in that game enough at 16 can carry him for the rest of the season.
