Max Dowman has more goals in all competitions than Tottenham. #disbandsp.rsffs. That first goal was delicious. He sh.ts on Rio what’s his name

@Rasmi will be 98 claiming Mik, in a wheelchair still rolling into the other coach's technical areas, will sell him
The fact that you know 14 years from now Arteta won’t change his crackhead behaviour on the touchline tells me you know he can’t change

I've been saying this for a while now, and this match has only reinforced my belief. Max Dowman needs to play CF for us. His long term future needs to be as a CF.

He is already 6 feet and he's not done developing. He may get taller, but at a minimum he's going to get stronger. He's already better than Gyokeres.

I think it might be too early to reliably use him as Havertz's backup, but I think he'll be ready by the start of next season at the latest.

Going forward I think Merino should be our backup CF and Dowman as our backup AM. This dynamic could be ideal and I think they will play well with each other because both them can play both positions.

Dowman has the potential to be a world class CF.

Scary player tbh. The way he skipped past that player for his first goal. He makes that **** look ridiculously easy. Same exact thing he did vs Everton last season for his goal. We thought that defender just put in a bad tackle, but its really the pace at which he comes at you with the ball stuck to his boots. It reminds me of the way Messi looked when he would skip past Scholes or Boateng in his prime. Obviously levels to things, but my lord, its scary stuff.

As far as being Odegaards understudy, here's how I feel about it. And this is the reason why I dont look at midfields in terms of positions but more so roles and balance. To me an elite midfield 3 need to be able to cover the brunt of chance creation, tempo control (possession), ball winning (50/50, duels) and ball progression into the final 3rd. However you want to break up those roles is up to the coach. Some coaches play with a double pivot. Some coaches play with a really balanced midfield 3 with a traditional 6, 8, and 10. Some coaches play with a (2) box to box 8s and deep lying playmaking 6.

Now, Ødegaard is a great chance creator, and right now hes in a specifically nice run of form in the final 3rd, but imo whats always made him special is his tempo control. His ability to slow down the play and speed it up as he sees fit. High volume passer, nonstop movement, progressor into the final 3rd, low amount of turnovers. He decides when to risk the biscuit and when to play it safe and keep possession, and I make the arguement hes a top 3 player in the world at that. The antithesis to players like Bruno F.

Thing is playing this role is a waste of the talents of a player like Max. He needs to be further up the pitch where his insane dribbling can cause chaos. I'd want to see him play in his final form almost like a late AC milan version of Kaka where he was almost a second striker. Pretty much a shadow forward. Low volume passing, high amount of dribbles, high amount of shots attempted, that kind of thing. Rice, Bruno, and Max platforms itself beautifully for combatitive, back and forth games. Rice, Ødegaard, and Max would work really well for more mid block and low block type games where we need to keep possession, be patient, and be intricate to unlock stubborn defenses.

Cant wait to see more of him. Probably the most exciting Arsenal talent of my lifetime tbh. I think talent wise I may put him above Cesc just cause he's a forward with game breaking unteachable abilities, whereas Cesc jumped off the screen for his more cerebral talents, iq, and game maturity.

Nah. No need to run him into the ground. Yamal has already played too much football for a teenager. The EPL is also not the same as La Liga when it comes to intensity and physicality. Let Dowman develop well physically and mentally without too much pressure for now. I think he should start getting more time around 19/20 years old.
He's already more physically developed compared to most 16 year old. I'm not talking about a full role here, I mean sub on when we need a moment of magic, 20 minutes here and there against better opposition.

Needs to play regularly, but great that the manager has the option of not playing him because the team is frikkin strong. For me he in the Cesc, Jack, and Rooney bracket.
He could reach the ultimate level if he works hard, keeps in head screwed on, keeps the hunger, has the health and endurance, and has focus in the right place.

We just need an upgrade in the CF and backup RW/LW position, someone to even challenge tzolis spot, cause he is good, but not world class level yet.

Never thought I’d see a 16 year old as good as Cesc, possibly better. On balance I’m glad we’re being cautious with him in the PL. It’s a shame to hold him back from smashing more records though. Definitely deserves more 20 minute cameos at least.

Credit to his family too, they seem very level headed. Could’ve easily seen them capitalise on the hype like we’re seeing with JJ Gabriel.

I think that's one of the first times he played the full 90 minutes. A good sign. He definitely faded in the last 20-25 but even at that stage he was putting in some real off the ball and defensive work which really impressed me.

His talent isn't in question but he's going to be ready to make a real splash when he has the other stuff down. I think he's getting very close now.

Next stop for me is getting 15-20 minutes PL sub appearances regularly.

Yeah I wonder about this. Will he end up more Kaka or RVP

Either you take in any team

Cesc was dominating peak Milan at 16. Max looks great, but he has not even faced a real team yet.

Way to early to say anything about how good he is, except that he is not close to Fabregas at 16.

Our squad is massive and one of the reasons Max will struggle to get more PL minutes is because there's no room for him on PL match days. It's one of the reasons why Arteta is clamouring to get the PL to increase the bench size, so he can fit the likes of Dowman on it without having to drop a senior player completely.

That being said, at some stage it will get to the point where Dowman will eventually replace a senior pro - that scenario is coming, and pretty quickly.

Hear hear. If he was coming through in La Liga he’d be a starter for every team bar Madrid and maybe Barce right now. That league allows time and space for attackers. You just don’t get that in the Prem with how athletic everyone is.

Max will get his moment but we also have a duty to look after his career long term.

Max just casually phasing through defenders 😭

that what i'm talking about the tech level is insane he 16 how the ball is so good in his feet? not only the goal but also when he recieve the ball yesterday look like very smooth and the other team just can't take it from him.

Maybe he should become our left wing back up. Assuming Saka stays at this level/goes back to previous level, Max's chances on the right will be too limited for his talent and trajectory.

Would be good tuition for him and help him develop to be able to play anywhere across the front.

Eze should just be Ødegaard's backup/rotation

His ability to run at pace/full speed and keep the ball under control and glued to his feet is a very rare ability.

I'm not putting him in the same bracket as that would be silly, but the same attributes of keeping close control at full pace has been seen rarely and with the likes of Maradona and Messi.

It's one of Messi's most valuable attributes, it's what makes him go around defenders with ease and draw fouls if he doesnt.

Theres many high level/technical dribblers that have come and gone, but who don't do it at full speed.

Be very interesting to see what hes capable of at 20yrs of age with 4yrs development.
