Just goes to show how well Arsène coached these guys. Sanogo is one of the biggest flops at our club and he still scored a CL winner against Klopps Dortmund and then had that assist or pre assist to Ramsey to win us that FA Cup final. Wenger and his midas touch *cries

In his last 4 years apart from Alexis who did Wenger buy and turn into an asset? Because the list of dross he spent money on is pretty damning.
Didn't he buy our only reliable goal scorer for the last two years, who single handedly has stopped us being relegated this year.

Yeah but this was the genius of Arsène. If Sanogo flopped, which he did, it qas fine because we barely spent any money on him and guys like him. Low risk high reward. These are still the types of guys we should be signing. Not the Torreiras/Lacas/Xhaka's of the world which cost a decent chunk of change and then have a pretty decent probability they aren't good enough for the club. Now with Arsène gone tho I dunno if we have the ability to nurture talent like we once did.

Confirmation of troll status. I’d wager you’re @Makingtrax’s burner account.

Like most Wenger apologists the thought of “net spend” numbers and “top 4” trophies cause movement downstairs, but ya’ll fail to see the lack of progress from it. The club/Wenger was fine just making up the numbers (4th) and it wasn’t until everyone below pushed up the table that we were pushed out as we panicked and frantically blew money to fend them off. Sonogo may not have cost a lot in fees, but he in no way was a signing that you make if you’re trying to actually win something serious especially if you first choice option was Giroud.

Wenger risked/wasted full seasons with his bargain signings and his aversion to spending in the right areas to make the difference and close the gap with those above us. The lack of ambition in the PL and CL and the panic spending is why we’re in this mess currently. Thankfully Arteta seems to have a clear vision and passion to achieve something great here and doesn’t seem afraid of having a go to try and attain it.

You really giving credit to Arsène for spending 60m on PEA 4 months after breaking our transfer record to the tune of 55m on Laca? 100m+ on strikers in four months. In the context of backing Giroud for YEARS while he wasn’t good enough by buying backup as best quality strikers like Sonogo and Welbeck before that? This is the level of management you’re proud of?

Wenger and Gazidis bought PEA, not sure who else you'd give the credit to. Just hope Arteta can keep him.

Good job Wenger and Gazidis bought him then, because the current management spent more on Pepe, hows that working out for goal scoring?

Raul and co have already bought more quality players in two years than Gazidis and wenger in their last 4 or 5 years. Without CL football as well.

Are you another Pepe hater?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Sokratis, Torreira, Guendouzi, Lichsteiner, Luiz, Mari, Cedric, Pepe. You're full of it.

Torreira was a good signing no? Mari you've seen play 114 minutes of premier league football which speaks for itself. Pepe hasn't been a bad signing. Cedric is a backup right back.

You know you're chatting absolute ****e when you pick out a player who's played 114 mins of PL football and a player who was bought in for nothing as a backup right back to back up your point.

No offence but if you're that against the current set up and every signing they make why even support the club at the moment? If you have nothing positive to say its a little odd to support them atm.

The recent transfer windows have been absolute cack. Our midfield is slow and ponderous, our defence makes constant unforced errors and our forwards have poor service. We're 10th and can't even make the Europa League. What do you want me to do, jump up and down and say well done Raul!

And all you can do is whinge about the manager that played exciting football and made top 4 and CL for 20 years straight. It makes no sense.

There's only one shining light at Arsenal and that's Arteta and I'm praying he can sort this mess out.

I think we can all admit he did a much better job with the tools he was given than any manager could do even with his flaws.

We’d be much closer to top 4 if he was still our manager now, it’s been a disaster since he’s left.

Doubt it, the decline started long before Wenger actually left. This club has been run terribly in the last decade. The new regime will need time and the competition is more fierce than it's ever been in that same time frame.

Improving our transfer dealings and not letting players run down their contract wil be key. I'm optimistic it won't be as big a bottleneck with Raul here as opposed to when Wenger and Gazidis were running the show.

Hating on Arsène Wenger in 2020 is stupid, I think we can all admit he did a much better job with the tools he was given than any manager could do even with his flaws.

Our fans have been brainwashed, there's no other explanation. They were frothing at the mouth when we were in the top 4 and playing CL football and now we're mid table and not even in the Europa League they seem indifferent.

It's ***ing mental.

Arsène did a great job from 1996-2006, and a good job from 2006-2015.

But to defend the fans a little, even though we weren't really a top team anymore after the stadium move (in terms of competing for the major honours) there were some seasons at the Emirates, where a bit of ruthlessness from Wenger might have resulted in a few league titles.

Also people are a bit apathic now towards Arsenal because they know we are a few levels away from where we want to be, as opposed to Arsène's time here where we were much closer and thus emotions were higher...you can look at this as a plus towards Big Wengz too, the fact people were more emotional back then meant they believed in their team more, even if some channeled it in inappropriate ways towards the boss.

The reason why Arsène had to leave was because the fanatics. They were convinced there was some grand conspiracy going on with the club, but it just turns out the club is run really REALLY poorly. Arsène getting us top 4 all those years, and throwing in the odd title challenge along the way, plus winning us FA Cups, is a miracle. The Arsenal fanatics are finding this out now.

In the first year we missed CL football we were 3 points off 3rd place. The next year when Arsène was a lame duck manager and the club weren't supporting him properly, and the players completely gave up on him, we finished with 63 points. And our xG map says we were unlucky not to finish at about 70 points that year. These are herculean efforts by Arsène. Those teams were terrible, much worse than our team now. We've invested massively and will finish with 50 some odd points lmao. Arsène was the face of the club tho so he took all the blame, and as a the upstanding gentleman he is, never pointed the finger because he really could have. Meanwhile Gazidis, Almstadt and co are absolutely inept and incompetent behind the scenes.

Gazidis brought along StatDNA which gave us the following signings. Mustafi - 35m, Xhaka - 35m, Gabriel - 10m, Lacazette - 50m. Look at all that wasted money smdh.

So TLDR: Wenger = good, Gazidis = bad.
