Özil has never been anything else that the cherry on the cake.
If your cake isn't good enough, your cherry won't change anything. It will still be a mediocre cake.

Except for 6 months when he was going to break the assist record in the PL, I've never felt Özil could or has carried this team on a consistent basis. He had a few games here and there where he was unstoppable.
But as you said, most of the time he goes dead cold.

he has been below average and a liability throughout his Arsenal career apart from the first half of 2015-2016. He has also been mediocre for Germany for so many years now and was arguably their weakest player at the 2014 World Cup.

He was finished as a world class player in 2013. Madrid phased him out at the right time.

What absolute garbage. Nearly smashed the assist record here, won 3 FA cups, played his socks off for this huge contract he has and then tailed off. Hasn't been the same since but gave us a few good years. Huge revisionism here from you.

you conveniently missed the part where i stated “except the first half of 2015-16”

he was absolutely rubbish in the dogfight with Leicester for the title in the business end of 2015-16, he regularly got dominated in the CL by the likes of Bayern as well as in the league against the top sides away from home.

he wasn’t signed for winning a few useless FA Cups and he was hardly the key in those victories anyway.

His signing was considered as a watershed moment for the club in 2013. No one in a million years thought that we could sign a player of his stature.

He was easily the biggest signing wenger ever made in terms of star status. Not to mention it completely smashed our transfer record was our first true big money signing.

considering all of that, he has been nothing but an underwhelming flop.. he hasn’t helped Arsenal get close to winning the league title.

at no point in his Arsenal has he been a top 5 player in the league, and even in his position as an AM/playmaker, he has been comfortably inferior to players like Hazard, Silva, Coutinho, Eriksen etc.

Even Mata had a greater peak than him in the PL and also Mahrez.

Had he produced for United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Sp**s what he has produced at Arsenal in 6 years, there is no doubt that our fans would have called him a flop and a massive disappointment.

during his time at the club, he has been outperformed by his teammates like Sánchez, Cazorla, Ramsey, RVP and even Auba.

the extent of his underwhelming Arsenal career can be gauged by the fact that he has been at the club for nearly as long as Pires and Henry, and he probably isn’t even among the top 20 greatest Arsenal players.

If Özil was a nobody signed for about 15m, he wouldn’t have been considered a massive disappointment. However, considering his price tag and status before he came to Arsenal, he has been extremely disappointing.

You mean you can’t argue with facts that destroy your perception that Özil has been an impactful player for the club..

Knee jerk? We are talking about almost 7 years of mediocrity. What knee jerk?

No, I just have better things to do than to rehash a topic that has been done to death on here. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination calling him an outright success.. The truth for me lies in the middle.

Because of this I literally went to google...

Turns out the largest/heaviest cherry is from Chile (Guinness).
The sweetest is the maraschino/cocktail cherry (Wiki) and the word maraschino originated from Croatia.

The images about cherry on a cake are really salivating. Really nice... I recommend you guys try it...
(Especially if you want some form of distraction...)

Great stuff this.

TBH I’d much rather he blew the money on coke, online gambling and strippers if the trade off was that we saw an increased consistency of performances similar to Liverpool away in the Milk cup recently & vs Leicester last season.

Another **** show and you could tell that he was going to put in a weak ass sickly performance as usual.

Giving him a 350k contract is all the proof anyone needs that Wenger had truly lost his marbles.

Got involved a lot more in that 2nd half. Still a bit weak at times and lacking a bit of intensity but he still proved crucial if only for 10 mins at least.

It was a bad performance (ah! but he is involved in 2 goals... so are Pepe, Auba and Martinelli), he made things more difficult today, Arsenal with him on the field had no balance, being outnumbered in the midfield, with Pepe and Martinellli tracking back much more than the expected, both died after 70 minutes etc.

Özil is a luxury player, period. He could do fine in one or two moments if he had the opportunity, but while those moments don't come (and often they fail to come), you can be sure that he will make the team pay hard for his presence in the XI.

Today's was unnecessary suffer of game precisely because the team was defending with one less. He defend less than Auba, how he can be classified as midfielder?

Özil out, Guendouzi in. Change to 4-3-3.

Guendouzi in lmao, did you learn NOTHING from Emery?

He‘s not ready for regular Premier League minutes.

If we replace Özil it has to be someone from outside because no one in midfield can do the things he does right now.

Arsenal Quotes

I believe the target of anything in life should be to do it so well that it becomes an art.
When you read some books they are fantastic, the writer touches something in you that you know you would not have brought out of yourself. He makes you discover something interesting in your life.
If you are living like an animal, what is the point of living? What makes daily life interesting is that we try to transform it to something that is close to art. And football is like that.
