Mesut Özil is in danger of leaving his relationship with Arsenal at breaking point after his latest cry off.

Incredibly, Özil has now missed as many games as he has played this season through either illness, a back injury, a knee problem or being left out.

Özil, 30, who is Arsenal’s biggest earner on £350,000-a-week, reported in sick for Saturday’s win at Huddersfield which will raise concerns as to why he is missing so many games.

World Cup winner Özil has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season but has struggled badly under Unai Emery’s regime, although the feeling at the club is that the manager is trying everything to try and make it work.

Özil has been made captain, was given the No10 shirt in the summer and given a huge contract but the club are getting very little value for money since he signed to the mega deal last January.

Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger even raised concerns about Özil’s immune system last season after he cried off sick on several occasions.

Arsenal would be open to offers on Özil whose contract expires in 2021 but his earnings will be a huge stumbling block with Inter Milan and Chinese clubs the only teams to have shown real interest.

It is a growing problem for Arsenal and his fitness and health is bound to come under further scrutiny throughout the course of the season.
John Cross learned a new phrase in ‘cry off’

Man that's too harsh of the club and we don't show any merci :lol: I think the news is also reliable given that Matt Law is reporting it! I am fairly confident that we can get rid of him thanks to Emery's treatment

Pretty harsh on him this treatment. Hasn’t had the chance to play himself in form because of inury/illness and Emery’s mismanagement.

Also the club shouldnt forget they were the ones who offered him this contract in the first place.. If a player forces a move the whole fanbase goes nuts but when the club forces a player out its a good thing?

The 'club' aren't here anymore. If a performing player forces a move, then it's a bad thing. Nobody really cares if the club forces an overpaid, underperforming sick note player out, though, do they? Why should any Arsenal fan care?

It's absurd at this point. I've got more time for players with specific injuries that flare up from time to time but, with Özil, it's a cold every other week. Can you imagine if he had to commute to work every morning using public transport? He'd succumb to Botulism on his lunch break ffs.

It’s Emerys fault because he has provided Özil with a thinner grade of blanket than the other team members and replaced his echinacea stash with a placebo - all with tacit approval at the highest levels of the Arsenal board. :(

You know who loves playing with Özil? Ronaldo. He was really upset when Madrid sold him. Offer him to Juve.

This might not be as far off as you might think. In order to get anyone to take on his wages, Arsenal will probably have to sell him for a minimal transfer fee.
Ramsey Özil trade incoming. This club always finds new lows.

Surprised and a bit disappointed that we got neither a heads up about his exclusion prior to Saturday, a reason why he was absent after the match or even a ‘well done lads, we won away!’ on his Twitter. We all know how he just loves to keep us updated on his wellbeing and praise the lads whether he plays or not... apparently.

Multiple journalists have said that he trained normally during the week, then called in sick on Friday. Maybe he really is ill.
