Well less bollocks might be enough for us to squeak in the the CL next season if we can win the EL so I’m on the less bollocks train. Any chance of success in the long run hinges on CL football so hopefully we see a lot more of Özil for the rest of this run. An extra €50M might be enough to buy a CM capable of getting the ball to Özil when he’s found space in a dangerous position, which was quite often against LC.

The manager should be cherry picking his games to get the best out of him, he's never going to perform well in a tough away fixture like this.
Then why we paying him so much money? With the money he on he should at least preform jusf like Auba.

There is more than enough to blame Emery for. Saying he can’t play Özil vs LC isn’t one of them. Özil’s poor play has nothing to do with Emery.

I agree to an extent mate I just don't even expect Özil to perform in games like this anymore.

Someone said in the Lacazette thread that Arsenal fans kiss his ass. That is true, but when it comes to Özil, our fans lips are permanently imprinted to his buttocks.

You can make any player look good with the amount of excuses that are made for Özil’s weak performances week in week out.

The notion that we played badly and our results were affected because Emery froze him out is another myth.

he is part of the problem and not the solution in any way. Can’t tolerate him in an arsenal shirt anymore. Over time he will be remembered as someone who largely flopped and left no legacy after spending nearly as much time at the club (if not more) as Henry and Pires.

for me he represents everything that is wrong with the club at the moment.

dude take your anger out on someone deserving of criticism.

If Kola or Laca (or even Bellerin) had passed to him, we would have at least had a goal back.

On the back of that performance, he is probably the best footballer on our team.

And what are you talking about? You’re scapegoating him and he’s barely played. Yeah Özil has earned a lot of fans through his accomplishments and his style of play, but the majority of the posts in this thread and most of the media coverage has been negative not including recent weeks when he’s actually been on the pitch. Everything you said in your post has been on constant repeat here for the entirety of this thread. It’s gotten really old.

when your best footballer is Özil you see screwed aren’t you? This is 2019. He is totally irrelevant now.

no one deserves more criticism than him in my opinion. He has been at the club for 6 years but his impact has been f all.

apart from the first half of the 2015-16 season, he has never performed consistently at a top level. However, the list of excuses grow bigger and bigger.

the first excuse was that he is playing with a slow ST like Giroud who cannot male diagonal runs to feed on his through balls. However for some reason, it was with him when he had his best period.

We then signed Aubameyang and he was still crap.

the second excuse was that Wenger is playing him on the right and he should play as a number 10. Wenger eventually did that and he was still crap.

Now the excuse is that Emery is a bum and doesn’t know how to utilize him.

He can only play in one position in one formation - as a CAM in 4231.

Even in that formation in that position, he is not world class and cannot influence games against a high press midfield.

Why doesn’t he deserve criticism? He has been at the club longer than anyone and he needs to play like a leader on the pitch and lift this crap team.

I am amazed at the amount of patience people have for this fraud after 6 years.

that is the problem. It is always someone else’s fault and somehow the media has an agenda as well. Everyone except Özil fans think he is **** now. Why is that? Why would people have an agenda against him if he was actually good?

you cannot scapegoat a player for 6 years, and he is criticized because in spite of his fans calling him an elite player, he doesn’t play like one and shows no capacity to lift the team.

Özil earned his reputation between 2009 and 2014. Since then his career has been a train wreck, and his fans are still clinging onto the hope that if the stars align, they can get the old Özil back. Yes that is not happening.

People are saying the same stuff over and over again because he has been putting up the same **** show for 6 years. The only thing that’s gotten old are his cowardly performances.

some people were adamant that keeping him out is affecting our results. That is a myth which has started to bust already. Had he been benched yesterday, his fans would be blaming his absence for the defeat. That is how deluded they are.

There’s no reason to make excuses for him because he’s playing well, and the team has played better with him. Pointing that out isn’t making excuses.

If your main point is that the team is ****e, well maybe go rail on Emery, or Raul, or Stan. Or yell at the ghosts of Gazidis and Wenger.

who is making excuses for him? Dude, he was dropped for the majority of the season. He's been playing quite well anyway.

He's played 3 games and here you are writing essays about how **** he has been. Get over him.

He didn’t play well. He was poor and lacked influence which is the case 9/10 times when he plays.

Özil apologists think he has played well when he hasn’t. That has been the story for 6 years now.

The next phase of denial is to provide a list of irrelevant stats to prove that he was good. If you need to read stats to see that a player has done well, it clearly means that he wasn’t good.

If someone puts the exact same performance as he does, then it is a bad performance. However, if it is Özil, we have to kiss his ass because he is supposedly special and doesn’t deserve criticism.

These are the type of people that rage the whole time he doesn’t play and we suck so when he comes back they rage extra hard. Basically everything is Mesut’s fault all the time.
