Say what you want, but there will never be another perfect deadline drama like this

@Riou @Macho @Makingtrax ....

Cause it ended on a sour note his reputation is in tatters and how big of a deal it all really was gets lost..but yeah I can’t think of a bigger star that we’ve brought to the club in my life time. Genuine wishlist stuff.

Think we’d have to go back as far as Bergie for the last known megastar on that level or bigger to come to the club.

Never quite understood the hate he got. Man was straight up world class or close enough to it from 13-16 when he was creating records for chances created and assists for fun. He gave up once he signed that last contract but that was on us for offering it to someone who wasn’t at the races anymore.

The most overrated and overhyped one dimensional player I have ever witnessed at Arsenal.
Later Wenger and Özil as a whole epitomised what had gone wrong with Arsenal football club back then. Weak, Stagnant, failed to adapt to the changing world of football, excuses filled, living on past glory etc..
No wonder we had become a joke of a club / Banter FC that were consistently humiliated by the other big clubs.. Those were such painful / pitiful times..

If Özil played in this current Arsenal team, do you you think Arsenal would be excuses filled, banter club or any of that bullshit?

Arteta's focus on defence has given me a new found disappreciation for Wenger's lack of investment on defence. He paired Fabregas with Flamini and bought Flamini back and had him play behind Özil as well. What the **** did Wenger see in that ****bag? I'm surprised Flimflam got off scot free and doesn't cop more flak. He even cost us Lass Diarra who was far better.

Our lack of defensive purchases and defensive midfielders cost us way more than anything Özil did.

Lol. I see the excuses and copium from the Özil fanboys is still strong to this day.
“If only the whole Universe was to be “FINE-TUNED” just one more time for the sole purpose of fitting Özil in it then may be we could have gotten a few good performances from him. Right? 🤦‍♂️

And Özil would not get into this Arsenal side. Imagine benching Ødegaard for him? He would absolutely weaken any serious side. The lack of fight, the lack of character, the poor attitude, the nonchalance, weak mentality, the laziness, the lack of self responsibility etc.. Who would want that kind of rubbish in their side? You want individuals that are willing to fight and work hard in your team and not fair-weather players like Özil.
Sorry.

  • Needed special treatment to be managed, leading to disharmony in the dressing room
  • Passive aggressive tweets directed at the club
  • Numerous side hustles
  • Refusal to play any away games north of Watford due to unspecified "illness"
  • Leaks to the press
  • Wouldnt ride out with his boy Kola when they got caught lacking
  • Messaged about his support of the Ugyur people only for his best man to be in charge of a secret program to deport them

Bloody nice bloke though

None of that takes away from what he did in 13-16. In fact I don’t remember any of this stuff when he was creating record numbers of chances and assists.

Wasn't trying to take away from his peak achievements tbh, was just answering your question of why he got hate, hopefully, you have a better insight now. I've missed out the biggest one which was his languid style of play meant that a lot of fans thought he wasn't putting in a shift

Arsenal Quotes

Young players need freedom of expression to develop as creative players... they should be encouraged to try skills without fear of failure.
