It seems like both club and player are playing a game. Özil comes out and does what he does in regards to the mascot to show he's not greedy after the club leaked his name in terms of who rejected the pay cut. Now the club have briefed the media saying they're looking to cancel his contract so that if Özil refuses knowing he's not gonna play at all then it starts to look like he only cares about the money. I'd love to know if at any point during the summer if Arteta, Edu, or whoever actually told Özil he should look to find a new club. Because the only real evidence we have is Arteta saying everyone starts with a clean slate.

All in all the whole thing needs to be resolved swiftly so everyone can simply move on. The club progress without the constant attention drawn to a guy who's not even on the pitch, and Özil can start playing football again somewhere else. Let's hope we get there soon.

Imagine how many staff members we could pay if he accepted a deal to terminate his contract early!

Surely generous Özil will accept! His determined spirit must be desperate to play football as well! My hero!
Özil’s gesture was an offer to the club, it wasn’t an offer to the man himself. So the club have to accept the offer or the man gets **** all. His gofundme has raised 11k but it’s hit a wall... because people are probably thinking he’ll definitely get the rumoured 70k. The whole thing was total bullshit and, in the end, unless it’s made public whether the club accepted Özil’s offer, Jerry will only get what’s been raised on the gofundme. He’ll come out out of this stinking again. The crowd funding would have raised the 70k by now and Jerry would have the money in his bank had it not been for the bogus offer.

Regardless if you blame the board, managers or Özil himself for how things have turned out, it's still really sad that things have got to this point that we're wanting to terminate his contract.
The guy should of went on to be a legend at this club for all the right reasons, now this, unfortunately, is what he'll be remembered for. :(

People have forgotten just how good he can be. The club should be ashamed with how they’ve treated him. I can’t wait to hear Özil’s side of the story once he’s gone.

If he’s been frozen out for rejecting a pay cut, which he has every right to, that would be a disgusting move by the club.

If it’s because of his criticism of China then that’s even worse.

It wasn’t down to performance on the pitch as Özil at his worst is a better squad member that Willock at his best.

If Özil only cares about the money he would have taken the payout. He would have easily made more money taking it and then moving to another club. All he is doing now is to make sure other clubs are wary of having him on big wages, cause it's a proven fact that he won't leave if he doesn't make it.
