The planes, social media rants and protests were extremely public and must have hit the players and Wenger hard. Managing a team in the prem is tough enough without that sh!t.I think it was not the social media rant or planes that made them do it. It was the empty seats at the stadium. Even when the planes were out, they were silent. The moment we had lots of empty seats, they had to act. It hit them where it hurt. In the end, it's all about revenue for them. If we want them to do something, protests are not going to help. Just don't turn up to the stadium.
But the board knew we were continually over performing for the player investment and probably believed that it would die down with trophies. It didn't. 2 cups and a second place finish and it had just got worse. The boycotts were the last straw, as you say. No football club can survive half empty stadiums. Ultimately Wenger was expendable.
