Our franchise player has like 4 PL goals and 3 assists after 21 games and is hugging the touchline vs Liverpool. We need to get him closer to goal.
Sadly I see his reputation go down and soon be talked about as overrated the longer these numbers continue

He’s basically playing as a 4-4-2 winger in 4-3-3 system. It’s just negative use of the player. But Saka is good boy and won’t complain about the tactics

He is playing well, to an elite level but regardless of this; that output isn't good enough for someone of Saka's quality.

Agree but its not like his output is a reflection of what it should actually be. There are at least 5 more assists that should be to his name imo.

As I say we can of course try to to any tactical mixup and see what happens but we are doing well this season, people seem to be forgetting that because of one off game. IMO when things start falling with us it will all look so much better.

I’m a bit worried Slot has given managers a blueprint of how to face up against Arteta:

Aggressively man mark Saka, Trossard, Rice and Eze/Ode, leave Gyok, Timber and Hincapie free.

Means they can even double mark certain players.

I think Calafiori becomes more important because of this, with his attacking quality from left back.

I totally agree, Saka's G+A output is down due to (1) poor form in front of goal; (2) a bit of luck with the assists. Both are variance based and I expect him to rack up the G+A in the second half of the season.

Yeah, you can see fairly consistently that if there is one player the opposition are okay with seeing carry the ball into the final third / box it's Timber.

He's a very good player but the end product is not quite to level you'd get from a White.

Really the FB you want to see driving more centrally and carrying the ball into the box is Calafiori off the left, he has the skillset, maybe we're trying to get Timber to give that option in his absence.

I also feel that Timber still doesn't quite have the connection that White does with Saka when it comes to playing those little triangles and interchanges.

I'm not calling for Timber to be benched for White btw, just pointing out elements of his game he can work on.

I don't think we need to over index the performance vs Liverpool - they came for a 0-0, and the weather was a pretty big factor in that. On another day we surely find a goal in that first half when we continually got in behind their defence. I was actually surprised when I watched the clip of all our first half attacks, I had forgotten how dangerous we were because of how **** the 2nd half was.

I think also many teams have tried what Slot did but against most we have manage to overcome it this season.

Van Dijk and Konate didn't leave Gyokeres any minute free though, he was doubly marked by both.

convince me enough!
Im starting believe we are first this season despite Arteta, if it was up to Arteta, he would have started his Ødegaard-Rice-Zubi midfield every game yet they are our worse midfield this season, if Eze lost us the game vs Villa, Arteta lost us points vs Liverpool x2, City, Chelsea, Sunderland either with his starting lineup or his in-game management. Maybe he should suspend himself for 4 games too😂

Yeah we just happen to have improved after Arteta became manager. It was totally luck… what a take…

if we dont win the league this season i shudder to think how he can regress our flair and limit our risk taking more than he has now , but he does seeem to lower it season by season , somehow . Unfortunately I am old enough to have suffered the famous boring Arsenal under George Graham but i suppose did not matter as much to me then as the thrill travelling all over the country with your mates diluted the low quality of the games. And importantly Graham was still delivering trophies in his last full season (and could well have won the european final 1995 if hadnt been caught in Feb 1995) with a squad containing some pretty shocking players. This squad we have assembled should make any team scared to play us but they all know sit back and watch us pass it around the back whilst our wide players stand on touchline , 1 player comes short for ball and everyone else stands still next to a defender , and try not to concede corners. It is strange when they post the training ground clips packed with lots of quick passing and movement , whats the point as we dont attempt to replicate it on match days. Would love to see players running through just keeper to beat on regular basis but the zubi goal agaisnt villa is a very rare sight nowadays so for now get the ball up the pitch quicker , dont end up with 4 players standing on edge their box within 10 yards each other , take a lot more long shots to bring defenders out to close the attempt and please coach gyokeres how to get in front his defender and attack the ball.

I don't think he limits our flair and risk taking like people say. His problem is the players he regularly selects don't have any flair or quick passing

I agree. I am sick of Ødegaard. He has regressed so much it's unreal. Your CM is meant to set the tone, all he does is sideways or backwards passing.

I really miss the team from a few years ago, which althought lost when Saliba got injured, would set out to destroy teams at home. With this defence and that aggressive play we'd wipe the floor with the league. But he is too negative now. Beggars belief Eze is rotting on the bench while Ødegaard stinks up the midfield.

Calma! That’s too mainstream, Saka should be the closer he can to the touchline so super Timber does his things.

Not going to work for them really, no other team is going to play 4-6-0 against us and we can't be as bad as we were in that second half.
Despite our poor game, we should have had a couple of goals with chances flashed across the 6 yard box. No idea why he's not coaching people to be gambling on those balls.

Ødegaard hasn't been stinking up the midfield though has he? Or can you only remember one game at a time?

Arsenal Quotes

Everybody knows how much I love Arsenal - I became a fan. And to be out here [in front of the Emirates as a statue] celebrating a goal against Sp*rs, there's not much else to say after that. Like I've said before: Once a Gooner, always a Gooner.
