Mikel Arteta: Art Of The New Deal

Commentators said he ran into the opposing manager's coaching zone. 😂 And then he tried to hug the ref when he came over to him. That's when he got that yellow card.
There's still a bit of Guardiola in him unfortunately. He seems to have adapted some of Pep's weirdo tendencies.
At least he's more matter of fact in his post game interviews and doesn't waffle around like Guardiola used to.

It's that basque region vampire DNA, not Pep. Vampires aren't bald.

Have to give him some credit for how he handled that horrendous penalty call post-match. No talk about being screwed over, simply focusing solely on how this is just unacceptable for the long term health of the game itself, clearly more angry about the incompetence on display rather than the call actually going against him.

It's genuinely a foul on Konsa, given as a penalty for the opposite team. Up there among the worst calls I've ever seen post-VAR.

He seemed ticked off the whole game as well. Did he get the yellow before the pen or after?
Way before the pen, for being outside his box. The guy smiled & tried to hug the ref afterwards but the pos ref totally snubbed him on that

I agree. Genuinely think it’s one of the worst calls I’ve seen in the modern age tbh. The fact VAR didn’t overturn it is insanity. It’s calls like this and all this “we gotta control these corners” talk that really make you think “there has to be an agenda at play here”. I don’t want to be that guy, but it’s hard to point at anything else. The level of incompetence is that high.

Of course  Point was it would've been easy to just move on, but he's kept hammering the point framed in a way that doesn't make Arsenal sound whiny, for lack of a better word.
Yeah it’s seriously concerning. That’s the kind of call that makes you afraid for the future of the league. Do refs in this league think a penalty is like handing out a regular foul? Penalties are almost essentially guaranteed goals, in a sport where you’re lucky to score a goal a game. The level of confidence you have to have in the call has to be extremely high. And you used it for this??? And VAR didn’t overturn it? It’s the kind of stuff that gets me ever closer to giving up on the sport tbh

It's never that simple but to have 6 points from two games where last year we got one is a very good sign.

Magnificent display from Arteta, calling out one of the most incompetent and biased ref decisions, laying down a marker and making it very difficult for him to be charged for it.

Good to see Ashley Williams, a limited but intelligent former player, knowing exactly what that judo roll was, and Frank wondering why they wait until game week 4 with the obvious inference that they were waiting to punish Arsenal.

They see a dynasty is in a making and they are doing everything to prevent that. Unfortunately, the rest of the league are in shambles and it will be a crapshoot for the 2nd to 8th spot for next 3 years.

Carragher is trolling isn’t he? Alex Ferguson had the officials by the balls 😂

He’s been on some BS this season lol

It is interesting comparing his reaction here to Brentford. I know we lost back then which immediately puts him on the back foot but you can see how much he’s learnt in dealing with the media. It’s subtle but the difference in language and tone is important for making the point. Words like ‘embarassing’ are too much to get your point across and give ‘this ref and all the rest are **** and i feel nothing but disdain, you should be ashamed of yourselves’ where as now his tone is more ‘it’s not up to the standards we all want for this league and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again’. The second is much more palatable for the general consumption i think

Arsenal Quotes

Robert Pirès was a fabulous player, world-class, and for a few years, before his injury, he was unquestionably the best left-midfielder in the world by far. He had incredible technique, he was smart, a finisher. He was a killer with a smile, the gentlest man in the world who suddenly drive the ball exactly where it was needed.
