Same initial set-up as the goals against City, Pool etc. Nice first half performance but nothing new.

I do get it, but I just think you’re complaining to complain in this instance.

It’s a London derby and we scored the 3 quickest ever goals. Do you not think we were the reason Sp**s defence was un-settled? Look how quick we moved the ball.

Yesterday felt like the exact opposite of Mikel's tenure here, like we had a different manager for the day.

We were sharp, pressed effectively, snapped into tackles, moved the ball forward quickly and were efficient with our finishing.

Like many I'm nowhere near convinced yet, we've seen performances like this before only to revert back to slow ponderous football the week after. I really hope that it isn't yet another false dawn and we start playing consistently.

If we get at least a point at Brighton even a fervent Mikel sceptic like myself will accept he has done enough between the international breaks to get another run of games to show that we are improving.

Counters and transitions, I’m talking about situations where the defence isn’t set. It’s easier to score in those situations but that isn’t our problem.

We did not need to do anything in the second half or couldn’t? Don’t lie to yourself. Yeah at 3-0 up you cruise, but you can’t tell me that second half went to plan for us.

Anyway the main reason I’m annoyed is that Mikel has earned himself another six months with this win but this win didn’t show any progress in the areas we needed to see progress and our board definitely isn’t smart enough to see that. Similar example is United regularly winning big games but their real issue is being able to dominate against smaller teams.

But we created those transitions, so what's the problem?

Sp**s we’re completely sh!te. They looked disinterested and clearly have Kane issues. Nobody’s complaining to complain, everybody wants to see that kind of football. And everybody will be Arteta In if he can reproduce this kind of form week in week out, because that’s what it’ll take to get top 4. Back where we belong, before our fans felt it wasn’t good enough and took matters into their own hands. That’s at least where we should be.

This actually shows why we need to fight for top 4 this season anything below is a failure.
Brentford can happen I guess but if we continue to go belly up against big teams we're not getting close. For now we hope and pray that the NLD was more Arteta than adrenaline. Need a good performance and a win at Brighton.

I think we have the quality to be in the top 5.
First half passion and adrenaline took over, second half Arteta took over.

I’m not ignoring the first half, I’m saying we’ve seen the first half before from Mikel, it’s nothing new. We’ve scored goals like that against Chelsea, City and Liverpool.

He’s good at setting up traps that create transition and counter-attack opportunities but we all know that it takes opppsition who are willing to bring the game to you and/or play out from the back. Basically it only works against top teams…and not all the time either.

It’s not an improvement if he’s done it before, not sure why nobody is understanding this and just giving me grief. I guess everyone is just enjoying the score line but the first half was him doing stuff he was already good at.

In the second half he again showed me that he wasn’t a good manager. We somehow failed to create anything and resorted to just chucking on defenders at the end. Once Sp**s gave up on the game and we actually had to play some football it wasn’t impressive at all. We lost that second half and Sp**s didn’t even play well.
I understand what you're saying. But poking holes soon after a NLD win, one when we played convincingly just feels like doom mongering.

The team isn't perfect and no one believes it is so. There are a lot of new players, ones the manager bought to play a specific way. And recovering from where we were will take time.

You will have moments you play well in a game and moments you don't. But all that matters is scoring when you're on top and making sure you're winning when the game ends.

Weaknesses will be worked on and hopefully ironed out as the season progresses. You can only beat what's in front of you. You can't set up for a low block against a team that doesn't use one.

And I have no problem with Arteta's team being good at specific things. Every manager has things they want to see and specialise in. It's not about reinventing the wheel everytime.

I know there are issues against smaller teams but that wasn't the game yesterday. If he can't solve those problems then he will be sacked. But even against Norwich and Burnley, you can see we are trying to form an identity.

And whilst the performances weren't great, we won, the players had another game to gel and with time, you hope it develops into something.

What I can't understand is being unable to enjoy a win against Sp**s because they won the second half. We are still a work in progress. In another life we would have drawn that game.

I get your concerns and everyone has a right to have their perceptions. But being an Arsenal fan hasn't been fun lately and I'll take the joy when I can get it. Yesterday was pure bliss for me.

You’ve just said everyone wants to see that kind of performance, suggesting what we played good football?? So why are people complaining?

Everyone gets we need to sustain it though.

Outstanding win in a NLD.

Different side with Partey in the team and Auba actually looking up for it.

However, we have had a few decent wind under Arteta. He needs to sustain this level before we start rolling out the carpet. If you think that criticism of him over the past year is invalid then you are indeed a *****.

We did play good football, and it’s the first time in a long time I’ve wanted to go back to the Emirates and watch live. Nobody’s complaining about that particular game of football and if it’s because Arteta’s got the players he wants and he knows they can carry out his complex positional play stuff, then we’ll see it carry forward.

Even if you don't find Arteta to your taste as a manager, it's one of those results and performances where you've just got to suck it up and give him some grudging praise.

Sp**s were very poor yesterday but they weren't poor in a vacuum, we played our part in making them look bad. It's only a month ago they did Man City after all.

3-0 up after half an hour or so, we basically cruised the rest of the game. Don't see what the problem is. With the intensity we came out with we were going to start to flag a bit physically after 70-75 minutes. Sp**s never looked like getting back in the match even after they'd scored.

Get the feeling that a lot of the really strong Arteta critics are disappointed we didn't nick a dodgy 1-0 in a really negative, dull performance so that could still be used as a stick to beat him with.

I’m going to go on a month by month basis with him. The first month was an absolute disaster. September has so far been good (in terms of results, performances have been inconsistent), but I expect us to perform against Brighton with something that resembles what we saw yesterday. We also need to be beating Brighton. If he manages that then I’ll be fine with him getting the next set of 4/5 games.

Don’t think past criticisms of Arteta have anything to do with taste. More to do with poor results, finishing mid table, not scoring goals and breaking records of the worst kind. Lol

Yes they are, so people are saying we only won because of how bad Sp**s were and I’ve been saying we won because we played unplayable football.

People are complaining about the goals we scored.

Even Sky were focused on mainly pushing Sp**s were bad rather than Arsenal were good yesterday...annoying, but it is what it is.

Only saw the first half, but I was actually impressed. It might be because of the NLD Derby Atmosphere but whatever. There was passion, the will to play the ball, good interaction: An actual idea.

Kudos to Arteta for this performance. Definately something to build on. More of this against Brighton.

I was never Arteta in, let alone Arteta out. I always said he was too inexperienced and I think I've been proven right. However, I only ever want Arsenal to win, and we did that yesterday, that's now 3 PL games in a row. Yesterday I only disagreed with one of Arteta's decision, and that was to play Xhaka but even that turned out to be a good decision.

Looking at the team before kick off I thought, on paper we now have a good team, with very good balance. Tomi & Ramsdale look to be very good additions. I was impressed by how quickly Arteta made Ramsdale No1, I thought it would take longer. I expect us to climb the table now, and for the first time under Arteta I expect us to field the same or very similar line up each week. Consistency is best achieved with familiarity. The defence looks good, Partey back to solidify our midfield, and SOS pulling the strings behind Auba. Onwards and Upwards!

Aubameyang later said: "I think we are doing a good run of games now, I think after the game against City it was time to have a chat between us players and this is what we did.

"We want to go forward and win games, this was important for us to make things clear and I think we are doing well right now and the feeling is good."
