Should I be impressed by "now" side or something?
It's definitely not that impressive considering we have outspent every club in Europe in this period.

Makes Emery look like a miracle maker

Then again he proved his worth with that Villareal EL win and CL semis run. We downgraded massively.

We’ll be getting 5th in 2024. With the WC, I’ll argue next season will become a non factor for a club like is.

The big push and target will be for 2024, and we’ll definitely get the CL then on as the rule changes to 5th.

Been saying this for a while.
Fancy another £100 bet?

Even more so that Emery in his 1st season - without his targets and straight after a very turbulent end to a legendary manager's 22year tenure - got 1point more than Arteta did in his 3rd (2½) season after handpicking players for his squad with a big time budget.
Emery's Arsenal even scored 12 more while conceding just 3 more -- and people said we were playing defensive football with Emery.

We had more points on the back of having experienced players. We now have a very young team, they don’t win as much as experienced players but the football is more attractive and the future is bright. There is hope they can win things now that we added Jesus, and if Xhaka is allowed to be captain.

Wenger went from winning titles to fighting to maintain a Top 4 place, to completely dropping out of the Top 4, finished 5th and 6th before losing his job because of it..
He went from winning titles to mostly battling for top 4 (although at times still competing for the league and very often finishing above 4th) because he went from having a healthy albeit inferior transfer budget to our direct rivals to having a smaller budget than Stoke. Once the purse strings were loosened we got 3 FA cups in four years and a improvement from 4th to 3rd to 2nd before the mass protests began.

Nobody denies there was a decline, our football at the very latter end of 2015/16 and for the bulk of 2016/17 (although we'd die for a 2nd place finish or a 75 point, FA Cup winning, topping a champ league group with PSG season now ) was drastically different to years gone by. Tactically especially away from home often far more defensive, regularly hoofing it from the back rather than playing out etc. The debate is what caused the decline, our side argues the mass protests both within and without the stadium created a climate of fear and intimidation, starting with the protest within the stadium V Norwich at the end of 2015/16 and continuing into the next season as Wenger out chants were being sung loudly game one/two, and abuse screamed at the team coach. The players looked and played petrified, not wanting to be the next target of the WOB mob. Wenger tactically became more defensive and fearful.

Funnily enough the defensive game somewhat went away in 2017/18, we created the 2nd most chances in the league and played a more appealing style (although the players still largely looked terrified and shell shocked from the climate of abuse within the stadiums), this is likely because Wenger believed the club would atleast honour the new 2 year contract and let him rebuild the squad in peace. The fans didn't want that however and half empty stadiums, Wenger out chants at every away game and a loss in the league cup final did him in.

Basically your side argues Wenger just suddenly declined and changed his style at the precise moment the massive WOB campaign began, incredible coincidence
That’s all I am saying. Lets not be dogmatic and sugarcoat obvious reality for the sake of sentiment..
Projection

I thought the general consensus was that Emery is a good manager but the fit with Arsenal wasn't right?

People will still sell you a draw vs Watford as the lowest point in the post Wenger era. We spent hours without scoring from open play, were playing like the 15th best team in the league for a decent part of a season, struggled to achieve a positive goal difference, missed European competition for the first time in decades and had that streak of winless games that would have sacked any non legend manager. But man, that game against Watford...

You're probably right, but he's still namedropped to highlight the virtues (?) of the current process. Even Edu did it recently.

Theme of the new regime. Tar and feather anybody and anything that might make you look not so perfect. Near every player we sell demonized, even players we have yet to sell, ex players, ex managers, list goes on.
Most people are encouraged by Edu’s recent interview and I was too at first.

Looking at it again though, yeah you nailed it the guy dragged everyone he could. Put up or shut up time this season for the pair of them anyways.

That Watford game was highlighted very much by Arseblog but i dont think he has ever done anything similar concerning any of the awful performances under Teta. In todays blog he blame Raul for some of the worst signings made by Teta btw.
